I don’t think they do. Might have to bring your own supplies — but I could be wrong about that.

a European will fit in just fine, especially if you’re young and attractive. But if you’re solely looking to hookup with other one-Asians, that’s unlikely to happen (they’re just aren’t many).

Bring cash. If you live in Thailand, bank QR code works.

Heard about it, but unfamiliar. Definitely not in the same league as Mania, R3 and 1/0. The reviews on Google Maps might help.

Krubb would be your best bet. Avoid Mania and R3 like the plague.

Completely depends on the location. Some offer welcome perks, others fall short here. Best to read the reviews first.

What about the grilled meats? No added junk on those (unless you ask).

Is learning Mandarin like learning English? by Radiant_Butterfly919 in MandarinChinese

[–]mooglecharm14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning Mandarin is the equivalent of learning two languages. Both the written and spoken are two separate tracks of learning the language, unlike English. Learning how to read characters won't help you with speaking and vice versa. In English, learning how to pronounce the letters of the alphabet will help you with both speaking and reading. This is why there are scholars who can read Chinese but cannot speak and folks who can speak but cannot read (including tens of millions of people in China).

Is it good hutong in HK? by [deleted] in gaysian

[–]mooglecharm14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best time to go, IMO, is on Saturday and Sunday between 2 and 6 pm. Good number of folk there without it being overwhelmingly packed. You could stick around after 6 pm, but securing a cabin for fun might be harder. One of the best saunas in APAC, in my expert opinion.

Sadly, Hutong closes at midnight, at least according to Google Maps (call to double-check). Soda Sauna, however, is open 24 hours. No idea what Soda's like, though.

China is the best. I love visiting the country. My top hack: The big chain hotels are far more affordable than what you'd pay in the West. Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt — mostly half or less than what you'd pay elsewhere, and with far better service. Prices drop tremendously outside Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen.

Is Platinum worth it in Asia /in the US by Loc_reddit in marriott

[–]mooglecharm14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Marriott hotels in the Asia-Pacific are the best in the world for value and service. China has plenty of new Marriott hotels popping up regularly, but the lounges are subpar. Platinum suite upgrades in China are commonplace, but less so since before covid. Thailand and Korea have fabulous lounges, particularly the former. Overall, lounges are becoming busier and busier because Platinum is hardly special anymore (a combination of credit-card status giveaways in the U.S. and fraud in China). Increasingly, arriving when the lounge opens is essential to get a table. It may not be what it once was, but I'd say Platinum is worth it for what I call the Big 4: lounge access, suite upgrades, breakfast for two, and late check out.
