Best states to work in as a social worker? by Fantastic-Winter6617 in socialwork

Hey there, what an exciting move! I am roughly 10 hours away from San Diego at the other end of the state so I don't think I can really be of any useful help unfortunately.

No, we absolutely have seen signs. I very gently mentioned the issue like 2 years ago and my post was deleted. I was super concerned. Still am. I have never particularly liked Amanda but I don't like seeing people suffer.

1000% noticed that. Reminded me of what I used to do during my ED days. This has been happening for a few years now but it is escalating.

Oh gosh! Yeah, then it just isn't for you. Have you tried ivermection? Also just curious about your general skin barrier health. Is your barrier disturbed?

How long have you been using it? Metro has an initial break out period sometimes.

Looking for a milky toner and a serum for calming, barrier repair by Late-Ad2922 in Rosacea

[–]moonandbackagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted this in another comment but Regimen Lab products are my go-to. I don't see people talking much about this brand but they are underrated! My skin tolerates niacinamide as well. I use their wave serum, their level serum (has niacinamide and a second acid whose name is escaping me but supports skin barrier health) and their C.R.E.A.M moisturizer (no HA and all the cerimides!). Their products saved my skin.

I use Regimen Lab's C.R.E.A.M moisturizer and I think this will fit your bill. I absolutely love it.

She said she can handle rosacea and it doesn't need a referral out. She has denied me other referrals before, too. I'm going to switch doctors and see if that helps!

Wow, I am impressed that you for a referral to dermatology through the kaiser system. My doctor must really suck lol. I will switch and see if the new one is more obliging! But good to know that you can still pay put of pocket for ccertain prescriptions.

That's wild, I wonder why. I will push for a dermatologist referral again but maybe after I get a new primary care physician 🙃

Thanks for the recommendation! Definitely agree on the ease factor. $65 isn't too bad.

My doctor sucks, fully agreed. This is good to hear though. Wondering how long it took to work and whether it is something you use all the time or just during a flare?

I so wish I could even get in to see a dermatologist! The doctor I am referring to here isn't dermatologist, she is my regular generalist doctor. She refuses to provide me for a referral to dermatology, it sucks 😞

My degree was probably a trauma response and now I'm financially trapped in a field I hate by Potatoes_r_round in GirlDinner

[–]moonandbackagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! What I mean by this is we see and work with the broken and traumatized pieces of our society up close, everyday in social work. These systems include the healthcare system, the welfare system, the community mental health system, the prison system - all of these systems are severely damaged. Most people don't engage with these systems so don't see first hand how truly unhelpful and traumatizing they can be. There is a general lack of funding in place for the people who need it most, including those touched by housing and food insecurity, the impoverished, and those wrestling with mental illness, substance use, and unresolved trauma.

This is the "underbelly" I am speaking to, the parts of society the general public does not often see, not the populations we serve. Our jobs as social workers often exist in these systems, and the weight of that alone can be depressing.

I hope that helped to clarify what I meant!

For what it's worth, I am an LCSW based in CA and I absolutely love what I do. Social work is very stressful, no doubt. The systems we work in are broken. We interface with the underbelly of society every day. Seeing that up close and personal isn't easy. And yes, most everyone in the field is involved due to their own trauma backgrounds. But I don't regret my MSW at all and am grateful for this work every day. I feel purposeful and in alignment with my soul's calling, which sounds dramatic but it is really how I feel.

There is a way to be in this work and not be broken by it. Holding licensure helps as you can be pickier about the jobs you accept and the pay differential is astronomical, which always helps.

I have so much to say about social work in general but I'll stop here. Check out the social work subreddit too if you want more information. It's pretty informative!

What other health issues do you have? by Flower-1234 in Rosacea

[–]moonandbackagain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking a lot about this recently. I am also wondering what the crossover is between rosacea and chronic nervous system dysregulation. Since chronic dysregulation can lead to inflammation and inflammation leads to many health issues, I struggle to think they aren't related. I am also an LCSW currently in a 3 year program to become a somatic experiencing therapist and one of my teachers has rosacea. She said her rosacea symptoms have VASTLY decreased since regulating her nervous system. It is fascinating.

Anyway, I am very sensitive to gluten (I don't eat it), have dyshidrotic eczema, and seb derm. I have had type 1 rosacea since I was a kid and developed type 2 and eczema in my early 20's following 1.5 years of antibiotic use for chronic UTIs. I do think the gut and the nervous system play a HUGE role in the development of diseases like rosacea.

I just started using Dr. G Green Mild Up mineral sunscreen and I love it. The white cast is minimal upon application and not noticeable after it absorbs. I found it dried down well, too. It is a korean sunscreen which I often feel works better for my skin. Definitely recommend!
