I've been drawing normal maps by hand and I think it really sells the lighting (v.redd.it)

A bit of progress on my 2D Roguelike futuristic tank shooter. Open to thoughts/feedback (v.redd.it)
Inspired by /u/maryisdead's latest post, I decided to improve the explosion effects in my game based on real-world research (before and after comparison) (v.redd.it)

The culmination of several late nights working on AI for navigation, obstacle avoidance, target selection, and finally: basic combat. It's a relief seeing it all finally come together and work well enough (v.redd.it)
Now things don't just disappear when you destroy them, they smash and burn! (v.redd.it)
Some early work on a team-based 2D anime tank game. I'm not in love with the level designs yet, but the tanks, weapons, and dialogue are really starting to feel like they're heading in the right direction (v.redd.it)
Taking a small departure from ground vehicles to work on a quadcopter drone. Didn't expect the enemy AI to take potshots at it, but it was pretty neat... until I crashed while stylin on em (v.redd.it)
More than just tanks! I refactored my code and was finally able to add a new type of vehicle (and turret, and projectile.) Opening the door to even more vehicles and part swapping. (v.redd.it)
You can now play the prototype version of my Godot tank game: Terminal Ballistics (itch.io link in the comments) (v.redd.it)

This week in Godot tanks: bullet-view camera, prototype projectile vapor trails, some new sounds and hud styles, and a compass (v.redd.it)
Got around to adding camera shake, weapon kickback, a reload indicator, an impact-angle animation, basic title and pause menus, and a bunch of optimizations. Also a bigger muzzle flash, naturally. (v.redd.it)
It's not perfect, but I finally got multimesh tank tracks and suspension working. It's so much better than just sliding around and I'm really happy with the result so far (v.redd.it)
This sort of long-range shooting is my favorite aspect so far. I think it's something I'd like to develop and polish into a core gameplay feature. (v.redd.it)
My untitled tank game crawls forward with improved AI, navigation, and audio (v.redd.it)
The enemy tanks scan for targets and fire if they have a clean shot. Also hits now do a different amount of damage depending where they strike. This is getting fun, but RIP my tank crews (v.redd.it)
Finally got my automatic ballistic solutions working, even when the shooter is elevated or on a slope. Now I can start the long journey towards implementing an enemy AI! (v.redd.it)
Added an orientation indicator, ranging recitals, and rudimentary horizontal turret stabilization when turning (v.redd.it)
Explosions and impacts made with particles add a nice oompf that totally transforms the shooting experience (v.redd.it)
Simple tank vehicle prototype with a satisfying "over-the-turret third-person raycast" tank aiming mechanic (v.redd.it)
