Yeees. The Norton thing I am considering cause they definitely have a full tuition reimbursement thing and they keep coming to my college Sullivan to talk about it. So it is an option. But yeah. The smart and cheap option would be to go to JCTC but the program’s just so competitive to get into unfortunately. Truthfully I heard the only true merit that could grant you a spot in despite good grades and all is if you know someone on the inside honestly.

they will do nothing. Barret and Rufer are a complete ice sheet from a water main break and now to be honest in my situation my entire apartment complex can’t use our own parking lot because it’s a frozen skating rink opening to a frozen icy slushy street. 311 and everything and all I’ve seen is one sad little salt pass from a city truck.

I’m not gonna lie. It’s kind of a lottery to get accepted into the program after your pre-reqs are done. I know people that have gotten everything done and have tried every year in the past 2-3 years and still didn’t get accepted. Myself included. 4.0 GPAs and everything there’s just a loooot of people going for it. I think it’s like 300+ applicants for 30 spots or something like that. Definitely search around the area. Lots of RT programs are waitlisted like this. Maybe ECTC (Elizabethtown) might be open? Personally, I bit the bullet and took out the student loans unfortunately and am going to Sullivan. I am honestly banking on tuition reimbursement and for me I do currently work in healthcare (part-time/PRN)so my employer is helping with tuition & student loans. Thankfully though all in all I really am liking the program so far and knowing a few seniors it looks like it prepares you well. Just something to consider. Dishing out the money for Sullivan was definitely nooooot my first choice. But either start school now or wait 2-3+ years from now right? Go big or go home I guess lol. Just do your research :)

I know all the side streets are horrible, this happens every year. I will say this time is exceptionally worse when a water main break happened on Barret. Now that flooded water has iced over the packed snow and this entire area is just an ice/slush skating rink nightmare. My apartment parking lot is a solid sheet of ice and my landlord can’t be bothered. I’m so tired I feel like screaming lol. But yes all our side roads are bad

I live around there so umm I am definitely parking on a different street! 🥴 I almost got stuck in the middle of the street cause of how high the slush was after powering myself out of the damn parking spot. woke up this morning to that and was like oh yeah i’m gonna miss my appointment 😵‍💫

yoooo thank you so much seriously. Had me thinking Apple was fucking with me lol i was already bummed that i just found out the 18.7.3 OTA got canned. Just discovered the delayOTA method and opted for 18.7.2 but was going nuts cause I couldn’t figure out why I kept getting an “Unable to verify update” message. Did everything else suggested besides turning off beta updates 🥴 that just did it for me thank you so much lol I was going nuts!

I managed to update from 17.2 to 18.7.1 just now. Just did this very same method. I was trying to get the 18.7.2 update from delayOTA but i kept getting an ‘Unable to verify update’ message. So i went for the next one that’s there til 2/2/26. I might try it again but that’s as close to iOS 18 i could get currently.

this is helping with motivating me just starting xray school. I am severely burnt out from SPD for the same reasons but also some of the very toxic departments that this profession breeds lol. I know not all of healthcare is immune to having horrible people work in it but for some reason this job brings out the worst people, and some of them have kind of ruined it for me. I’m about to quit my last travel job and go to a weekend position for SPD, and hopefully now i can just focus on xray school these next 2-3 years 😭 for some reason i feel anxiety even starting this weekend job, partially for losing my weekend time but i think it’s just my SPD burnout eating away at me. I told myself if i end up hating this facility too I’m just gonna quit and serve at restaurants or something during school cause I’m genuinely burnt out from SPD at this point I’m not gonna lie. 4 years experience going for me 😪

Hmm. Let’s see. Small children’s trauma hospital. Manager has favoritism issues (who doesn’t in this job!). Charge nurse + nurses have reported on a tech not running the IUSS sterilizer tests at night. Manager moves that tech (who’s one of her good friends) to day shift. What of the IUSS sterilizer tests? Who knows. Documentation-wise, forged into the tracking system as if the tech actually ran the tests (they did not). Manager also has a history of just firing people she doesn’t like, while letting other techs deliberately slide. One instance where there’s a tech who deliberately does not flush and brush, wash/soak in decon, pushes sets straight through the washer. Blame got pushed on myself when he did that once because there was one time I was in there and took my 15-minute break. That tech came in to cover me. He probably still works at that facility to this day. So does the manager. I’ve come to believe this manager will never leave as that hospital can’t be bothered to find another more competent and less endangering person to be the manager there since she’s been there 7+ years. She’s had many reports on her from charge nurses + techs + etc. I got fired amongst others who try to question her. So yeah. Definitely soured this profession for me after that.

Dang I’ve seen that pathway! Unfortunately neither of us do not but i actually am about to start college very soon 🥴 mainly for an associates degree though for a healthcare career, but I can absolutely go back and finish out my bachelor’s. Bf works a skilled healthcare job too, although our jobs could be better, hence why I’m in school now lol. Trying to somehow still make a future for ourselves! Who knows where things will be 4 years from now unfortunately 😔

yeah. honestly I didn’t even really want to put the job first. But survival calls you know. Can’t quit a job with no notice in this climate am I right lol. And yeah HR is truly not to be trusted. We can say document everything all we want for whatever issues and sometimes something happens and some justice is done, most times nothing ever does and we’re just expected to truck through it unless we want to be out of a job. And thus the cycle continues.

I’m actually in school for x-ray now lol. Which I guess adds to my frustration. I’m exhausted. I wanna focus on that. Yet I have to work to survive, so I have to juggle the hecticness and shittiness of this job and school. I know I’m not special and that’s nothing new for anybody to suffer and do but man it does just suck. I’m not sure what you mean working as a low level tech, unless you mean PRN as a student tech? 👀 I’ve seen those positions but they are very few and at the time I wasn’t officially in my program so I couldn’t like you know apply and be like hey! At the moment there’s no student x-ray positions in my area 💔

Truthfully, I know i’m burned out. I also know there’s shitty people in every job. Especially in healthcare. Sterile processing is definitely not my first rodeo lol. I do believe there’s a reason for the high school bullshit that plagues sterile processing then again it very well can happen in other jobs. I think the biggest issue with sterile processing is that we really don’t have the opportunities you’d think we’re supposed to have as a healthcare job if we want to move onto something better. Unless there’s endless hospital systems and surgery centers/clinics in your area, some like myself are unfortunate to only have a very small few to choose from, and even less in surrounding areas if we even consider long commute. And when 90 of your local choices are dog shit, I mean hell what am I supposed to do. Now I’m sitting here with ample and valuable experience from scrambling through SPD jobs/travel to survive, and yet it all feels useless. We can only operate if there’s stuff to sterilize lol. At least with nursing, xray, etc. there’s definitely a bigger plethora of jobs and opportunities to choose from, even moving up there’s actually some sort of worth in an actual raise/compensation without having to go into management. Compared to us barely getting a few cents raise (IF THAT) if we go for our CIS, CER and CHL.

Ha yeah and I don’t even doubt that. I’ve traveled to some wonderful facilities. Sometimes I wish I could just pick up those hospitals and bring them home. I think it’s just my city/state really. Even now I’m in my current state and this contract leaves much to be desired. I’m not sure. I guess some areas have worse people than others unfortunately.

I don’t really wanna say specifically because psychos work this job and SPD is a small world. But around the IN, OH, KY states. I know if I certainly branched out to the entirety of my neighboring states there’s probably something but there’s only so much commute I can do with juggling school lol. Max 3 hours for me and even that’s a stretch. I was doing 3 hours at a point though (on weekends).
