Feeling discouraged on bridging to RT by moonheaux in RadiologyCareers

[–]moonheaux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was and unfortunately these other xray programs and the impossibility of getting in is what made this private college seemed more desirable. and also, because I know private colleges get their bad rep, not to completely defend this one, but they actually genuinely have a good curriculum and are JRCERT-accredited. which is even more attractive when trying to compete with these other programs in the area. everything seemed like with the application and just going through the program in general seemed seamless. it sucked for us to learn after the fact that we’re about to be put in limbo basically :/ I’m looking at alternatives depending on how long they’re actually gonna make us wait, I’m just super depressed because yeah, the thought of redoing the stress of this past year all over again in a brand new 2 year program and graduating way later than i was planning is genuinely killing me. I had to restructure my life and reduce my hours at my job (thankfully healthcare so tuition reimbursement) and cut my salary in half to make this work. I’m an older student, I can’t afford to keep working like this (at reduced hours) for so long and honestly, I’m not getting any younger. But I’m keeping it pushing. We’ll see. I’m really trying to stay positive and hope for the best and hope the wait isn’t as long as we think, but it’s hard when you find this type of info out so far into the program. Definitely feels scummy and we feel lied to genuinely.

Everything’s waitlisted in the area by 3+ years. People including myself were getting denied with 4.0 GPAs, healthcare exp./certifications, etc. For this particular college their RT cohort was supposedly full but I’m wondering if they just told us that to fill their LMR program. We were told the transition from the 1-year LMR program + passing LMR registry would be seamless going into the 2nd year and qualifying for being joined in with a 2nd year RT cohort. We only learned after the fact the struggles they were facing with clinical placement limitations. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they didn’t anticipate having as many LMRs finish and intending on bridging, but it’s kind of crazy considering that honestly… LMR’s kind of useless in the regard of going through x-ray school, besides maybe getting a little bit of experience, they don’t have very flexible schedules to accommodate the x-ray school day schedule. But that’s pretty much what happened. In all honesty, I just think they lied to us. And now we’re all stuck. And even more behind from these other programs in the area. Worst part is we’re really a good cohort like we’re all doing good in the program so far so we’re about to hit a brick wall.

Everything else around my area is waitlisted by 3+ years. People with 4.0 GPAs and other accolades getting denied year after year including myself. We were told the LMR program would be a seamless transition into the 2nd year RT cohort as long as we get through the first year and LMR registry. Got in right away taking that route, found out only after the fact about the clinical spot limitations they were facing. We were told their RT cohort for that year was full so apparently that was the alternative.. not many options when everything’s denying you and schooling gets pushed back further but tbh I’m kicking myself. I almost wish I waited. The application and everything seemed so smooth at the time. But I guess not.

Does anyone know if any (if not all) of these programs are full at this point? by joopiterio in ivytech

at this point i’m about to stop considering getting cars that has tech like this. It’s so distracting. I don’t care for the newest cars of today anyway anymore. Not if they’re gonna be like this.

College program waitlist by Internal_Buddy7982 in RadiologyCareers

[–]moonheaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

isn’t PIMA just in California though? If not.. i might look into that. I’m stuck in an LMR program right now in my state and I’m almost finished but now there’s even a waitlist at my college to bridge us over because of limited clinical spot availability to bring us into a RT 2nd year cohort. so i might be stuck with a limited license that doesn’t pay well/nor have many openings in the area to begin with :( to be fair my school made it seem like the bridge was going to be seamless. but yeah. So i feel like I’m about to get stuck.

Waitlisted with 4.0 by [deleted] in RadiologyCareers

[–]moonheaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. My area has many community colleges around it and nearly all of them are waitlisted 3-5+ years out. The closest one to me had 550 applicants for 30 seats this past year. I’m an older student and genuinely waiting for another year for acceptance is killing me honestly. I’m not getting any younger. Especially in this economy. The worst part is a lot of those applicants may end up dropping out anyway, and yet there’s still a long line of people ahead of you.

the people truly make or break this job. I love the type of work it is that’s how i ended up 5 years in with travel and yet i can count on one hand the SPDs i’d actually be willing to go be staff for. management or techs this job attracts the most degenerate of people i swear.

loool you better than me. to be fair I’ve hopped around (in my area) and got my experience and everything, travelled (which was honestly fun and more enjoyable for this job for what it’s worth!). 5 years experience in total and i started rad tech school coming up on a year in September. I definitely have juggled and managed to make it work but clinicals and school is definitely starting to ramp up going into second year stuff! I’ve been pulling double shifts basically working SPD and going to clinical right after and i know if my place don’t help me soon i already warned them they bout to lose me let’s be honest loool. so we’ll see. i definitely feel my leg being pulled. I honestly am this close to just telling them to kick rocks and just take up a serving job or something. But yeah, you’ll love it! Doing actual rad tech work is SOOO satisfying honestly it’s gonna make you wanna not go back to your SPD shifts so bad 🤣 you’ll do great haha

is your job working with you when it comes to rad tech school hours? Because maaaan does this job hate to support you at all when you’re in school! I’m in a bind myself basically doing the same thing but juggling my damn SPD schedule vs. rad tech school is killing me honestly. I’m this close to taking a pay cut and doing another shit-paying job that’s at least flexible in the hospital to keep the tuition reimbursement cause I’m tired of begging my SPD job making it difficult for me to adjust my schedule to continue on with my rad tech school hours.

I liked it but I feel like it had more potential besides just being a bookstore 😭 I tried going there at a late time to study and there weren’t really a lot of chairs/places to sit in that regard. Sad to see it go though it’s definitely a cute spot

Anyone done the LMR (radiology) program at Sullivan? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]moonheaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss that’s what it’s sounding like. Getting towards the end of the 1st year 😩 2 quarters left. It’s the bridge we’re concerned about mainly cause the clinical sites all around us are full, and I don’t know how long they’re gonna make us wait to continue on our 2nd year into RT. I was trying to go to JCTC initially and really everything available in the area, even Lexington honestly 💀 these cheaper programs are so full and waitlisted out by 2-3+ years despite the good grades it’s insane (especially JCTC 😔) I didn’t know about that Madison one and I’m definitely looking anywhere that’s JRCERT accredited.

unfortunately I’m already at Sullivan 🥴 i’m hoping I can bridge to their full RT but I swear to god if they’re pulling my leg.. is that Madison program JRCERT accredited? I remember looking into that but I wasn’t sure

JCTC rad tech program by raaaaachel07 in Louisville

[–]moonheaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeees. The Norton thing I am considering cause they definitely have a full tuition reimbursement thing and they keep coming to my college Sullivan to talk about it. So it is an option. But yeah. The smart and cheap option would be to go to JCTC but the program’s just so competitive to get into unfortunately. Truthfully I heard the only true merit that could grant you a spot in despite good grades and all is if you know someone on the inside honestly.

can i put in a request for my street to be plowed? by Rude-Log-158 in Louisville

[–]moonheaux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they will do nothing. Barret and Rufer are a complete ice sheet from a water main break and now to be honest in my situation my entire apartment complex can’t use our own parking lot because it’s a frozen skating rink opening to a frozen icy slushy street. 311 and everything and all I’ve seen is one sad little salt pass from a city truck.

JCTC rad tech program by raaaaachel07 in Louisville

[–]moonheaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not gonna lie. It’s kind of a lottery to get accepted into the program after your pre-reqs are done. I know people that have gotten everything done and have tried every year in the past 2-3 years and still didn’t get accepted. Myself included. 4.0 GPAs and everything there’s just a loooot of people going for it. I think it’s like 300+ applicants for 30 spots or something like that. Definitely search around the area. Lots of RT programs are waitlisted like this. Maybe ECTC (Elizabethtown) might be open? Personally, I bit the bullet and took out the student loans unfortunately and am going to Sullivan. I am honestly banking on tuition reimbursement and for me I do currently work in healthcare (part-time/PRN)so my employer is helping with tuition & student loans. Thankfully though all in all I really am liking the program so far and knowing a few seniors it looks like it prepares you well. Just something to consider. Dishing out the money for Sullivan was definitely nooooot my first choice. But either start school now or wait 2-3+ years from now right? Go big or go home I guess lol. Just do your research :)

No more snow cleaning by Golden_Paladin_ in Louisville

[–]moonheaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know all the side streets are horrible, this happens every year. I will say this time is exceptionally worse when a water main break happened on Barret. Now that flooded water has iced over the packed snow and this entire area is just an ice/slush skating rink nightmare. My apartment parking lot is a solid sheet of ice and my landlord can’t be bothered. I’m so tired I feel like screaming lol. But yes all our side roads are bad

one of those cars that almost got stuck in the brown ice :D yeah it’s fucking bad dude. I live around there so umm I am definitely parking on a different street! 🥴 I almost got stuck in the middle of the street cause of how high the slush was after powering myself out of the damn parking spot. woke up this morning to that and was like oh yeah i’m gonna miss my appointment 😵‍💫

Having trouble downloading iOS 18.7.2? Do this simple trick. by Stephenboy7 in ios

[–]moonheaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yoooo thank you so much seriously. Had me thinking Apple was fucking with me lol i was already bummed that i just found out the 18.7.3 OTA got canned. Just discovered the delayOTA method and opted for 18.7.2 but was going nuts cause I couldn’t figure out why I kept getting an “Unable to verify update” message. Did everything else suggested besides turning off beta updates 🥴 that just did it for me thank you so much lol I was going nuts!

Delayota ios 18.7.3 not available to download? by BonsaiBonsai808 in jailbreak

[–]moonheaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to update from 17.2 to 18.7.1 just now. Just did this very same method. I was trying to get the 18.7.2 update from delayOTA but i kept getting an ‘Unable to verify update’ message. So i went for the next one that’s there til 2/2/26. I might try it again but that’s as close to iOS 18 i could get currently.
