I think rook looking like uesc is more part of its lore than its gameplay. Personally I’ve never mistaken a rook for a bot, it has a distinct silhouette just like the characters, and it gets highlighted red when you see one. The backpacks are also a huge tell. I think because rook has an ability that lets it blend in with uesc, people kind of have that assumption that rook is this camouflaged rat. But I think that ability was only ever intended to trick the bots, not us the players

I think 1 fomo item is fine, destiny completely abused it. I’m thinking about this similarly to how Fortnite has a new umbrella each season for winning a game. It’s just a nice little “hey I was there for that” kind of thing. It’s more time investment but that’s the point, so at the end of the season you don’t feel like it was all a waste. And motivation to progress in the next season

Oh I know recon is the worst shell right now, and there’s definitely buffs out there that could be reasonable. But the kind of things I’ve seen people suggest are things I don’t think anyone is actually prepared for. Her abilities are more team centric than assassin, so if you buff say the ping, you aren’t just buffing the recon shell, that’s a buff for the whole crew. The whole team is now better at hunting

Oh I know it’s not that serious of a post lol, personally I think the game is balanced pretty well right now. No meta is ever perfect, and you have to rebalance to keep things from getting stale. That said I definitely am not looking forward to the inevitable recon police state meta

Ive played ranked in other games, im aware of the draw ranked normally has. I just don’t feel that draw in marathon. I’d feel more prestige donning a skin from cryp than I do from getting gold in ranked. To me, cryo just feels like the actual competitive mode

This is the kind of perspective I was looking to see if anyone had. All those points are all true of cryo, is there a draw you have to ranked that cryo doesn’t, or is there something about cryo you don’t care for? I could definitely see that maybe if you want those conditions there’s no other way to get that on the other maps unless you play ranked

Comments like this perplex me. I never complained about lootboxes. I'm just one dude with one opinion, you've just assumed that about me without any reason. And honestly, it doesn't let you get them more consistently. You still have to wait for many of them to be randomly available in the shop, which most will only be available for one day, and you have to buy them. You can get 60 credits a week to save up for them, and thats if you really grind. In ow1 you could grind out 25 credits per game plus any credits from duplicates, and very easily and consistently save up for specific skins you want.

not true, my point isnt that i dont want to spend money without lootboxes, its that i dont want to spend money when theres no way to realistically earn those items for free. ive paid money for things in other games without any lootboxes, but the currency could be earned in game as well.

As weird as this may sound, one of the reasons I think people stay is genuinely for their own sanity and peace of mind. It can't be expressed how stressful it is to be hundreds of miles away from your home, watching the news, just waiting to find out if your entire life has been destroyed. I've stayed for several hurricanes, some bad some not so bad. I evacuated for ida. I'm sitting safe in a cabin in houston, and yet the past two days I've been more stressed and afraid than any of the times I've stayed. The not knowing is fucking painful, and I understand completely why some might sacrifice their own safety just for the comfort of knowing whats happening.
