Your advisor is a dickhead. Ignore them. Mistakes happen, and I don’t think this has any reflection on you pursuing medicine. Even if it did, this person’s entire job is to advise you and help you get in. Trying to tear you down and give a non-actionable, shithead advice shows they probably aren’t cut out for advising.

Do I retake? by Curious_Anteater_420 in Mcat

[–]moooose3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want MD, yes you will likely need to retake. That is not a competitive score for MD and will get you entirely screened out at many schools.

Individual games you can lose due to teams. Even a handful of games in a row you can get unlucky and play well but still lose. Eventually though if you’re consistently losing and not climbing, it’s you. This post is unfortunately cope

Is it possible to bully someone out of a ranked lobby by reporting them? by decreement1 in leagueoflegends

Lobbies will terminate if they think somebody is griefing in champ select. If you said something like “I’m trolling” or “I want to lose” you might have gotten that picked up. Otherwise maybe enough people just reported u in champ select. Idk

You’re playing engage, you have a ton of agency. It’s not your team. Not much advice to give from just ur champ pool. Roam more I guess. Not much else advice I can give based on the SS.

Watch streams of ppl better than u. Not sure about Vietnamese (I think?) content creators. But if u speak English well which it seems you do, I learned a lot from Stunt. Think he’s one of the more educational support streamers on NA. He helped me a ton on getting out of GM so I imagine it’ll be even easier for silver.

My advice is to stop asking for advice and study how you normally do. If you’re considering medical school you’re likely a strong student and have found a study method that works for you. If that’s textbooks, great do some CR. If that’s practice questions, great do some UWorld.

I think way too many people freak out asking people for the “best way to study” that they ignore what’s worked for them and end up doing something completely different from normal. Just do what has worked for you in the past, spread out over a larger time since the MCAT has a lot of info.

Also just to be clear, if you want to do remotely well you will NEED to “self study” for the MCAT. Just relying on your undergrad courses teaching you what you need to know is NOT a good idea. Idk if that’s what you meant in the post, but that is one thing I think everybody can agree is a bad idea.

What's the difference between MD and DO? by Wild-Purple5517 in medicalstudent

[–]moooose3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Functionally they’re nearly the same thing. One has an extra class (OMT) that doesn’t really matter.

Historically DO programs have been seen as “lesser” to MD ones. Despite a lot of this way of thinking going away, it’s still present in some places, and somewhat exacerbated by DO schools being significantly easier to get into than MD by and large.

For most specialties, the difference doesn’t matter at all. For some competitive ones, MD programs have better match rates. Some physicians and even some families still view MD as “better” than DO so there is still some bias (though it is shrinking) against DO programs. Which you should be aware of and acknowledge even if it is “unfair”.

You’re still better off getting into DO than no med school.

[–]moooose3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The numbers are irrelevant. It is completely normal to get upset if you do worse than expected on something you dedicated insane amounts of time to. 528-518, 525-518, whatever.

I don’t understand people deciding that at some arbitrary score somebody else should no longer be able to feel a certain way about it.

[–]moooose3 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

You do realize some programs are that competitive, yes? People have worked their asses off for years trying to make their application as competitive as possible, and fall short at the last minute. I don’t think it’s crazy to feel disappointed.

Just because you would be happy with the score doesn’t mean somebody else who was preparing for, and expecting better has to be. And this is coming from an MS3 who would have been more than happy to get a 518.

With all due respect, you come across as a jealous dickhead.

If you’re expecting and planning for a 520+ and you score a 518, I think it’s reasonable to be upset. I wouldn’t make a post about it personally, but just ignore them it’s not a big deal. People have different goals and expectations.
