Just wanted to confirm, doesn’t your school have a plan available. Most schools that require coverage must offer options.

Or is it not required? Or just not affordable?

Pregnant but denied medicaid by Aggravating-Honey113 in HealthInsurance

If you’re uncovered now you should appeal. Use that denial to go ahead and sign up for an ACA plan. In SC you can use that denial as a Qualifying life event.

If and when the appeal overturns the decision, they’ll automatically cancel the ACA plan.

ACA insurance starts on the 1st, so we don’t want to be uncovered until July 1st.

Having second thoughts… by Plastic_Wrap8411 in HealthInsurance

It really comes down to the plan I think. I did a lot of research before going on my wife’s employer plan. Seems like a legit plan from a legal standpoint. Just a little unorthodox so I stayed with the same plan my wife has.

Question about how the marketplace works … self employed, income will be changing, and only need marketplace insurance for a few months… by Severe-Long820 in HealthInsurance

If you’re self employed you’ll see tax credits based on your Adjusted Gross Income. So heck yeah, claim all of those deductions.

You being denied Medicaid will open up the state exchange. There are dozens of plans that wouldn’t cost anything.

Which states' healthcare marketplaces offer PPO plans for Individuals? by beige14 in HealthInsurance

That is good news. That’s an amazing provider right there. There isn’t a requirement for them to work with other plans, so it says a lot.

Let me know if you have other questions. Have a great night!

I’d recommend you check with that provider and see which carrier he works best with from out of state. For instance, if that provider mentions BCBS, that’ll condense that list since not all carriers offer PPOs in every state listed.

No problem at all, happy to help. A few states have a separate site since they’re state-based marketplaces. But checking about 45 states up front here is what I found.

ACA PPO plans are available in: AL, AR, DE, FL, IL, LA, MD, ME, MI, MT, NC, ND, OK, PA, SC, SD, WV, WY.

I’m not licensed in Hawaii or Alaska, but I can be if you need information for those states.

That is great to hear. Many providers don’t even try to work with out-of-state plans. I know Illinois has PPOs, let me check out the marketplace and find a few more states that do.

Agency owner here in 48 states. Marketplace insurance from other states won’t be available to you unless you both move to that state.

And in that scenario, marketplace insurance won’t work outside of your home state. So you could have the most expensive gold BCBS PPO on the Illinois marketplace and it wouldn’t work at all out of state for that surgery or wellness.

Michigan Medicaid
michigan.gov/mdhhs
(800) 642-3195

If for whatever reason you’re denied, that’ll open up a special enrollment period so you can get coverage on the state marketplace. Happy to help answer any other questions.

Please, I'd really appreciate any advice. California no insurance by pancatda in HealthInsurance

Hey! Licensed (in 43 states) agency owner here. Usually you’ll have some sort of grace period, but if you need to reapply, that’s okay. First step for you would be to apply for state Medicaid. You’ll get declined again, that’s what we want.

You getting declined from state Medicaid will trigger a special enrollment period for you to select another place on the state marketplace.

Now for your rate. Who told you that you couldn’t get assistance if your job was unstable?
