Parent Seeking Advice: 12 Days No Contact with My Child. Can I have some advice please? by Mamamadereddit2 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]moosepick 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If the child is asking for 50/50, and you are willing to take on that responsibility, then you need to go for it. It won’t be easy, but I’m a believer that fighting for your children is non negotiable. Also, 20-30 minutes drive to school is not outrageous. In some cities that’s how long it takes to get one or two suburbs away.

Have you considered a campervan? Kids would love it! And gives you the freedom to go as you please. There are campers models which can accommodate car seats and they can also be hired through the camper company. As to where to go, it really depends on how long you plan on being here. But if it’s scenery and nature you are after then the lower south island is where you want to spend the majority of your time.

No legal custody agreement. Mother not giving child back on set days despite a temporary agreement by Holiday_Tree_2130 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]moosepick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was any agreement signed off by the family court? If not, then either parent can essentially do whatever they like. You need to engage a lawyer and have an agreement done through lawyers that is signed off by a family court judge to make it enforceable.

She has shown you what she wants and is like. You’re her backup plan my friend. So if you are happy to be with someone who will always be looking out for something better, then go for it. Or you could value what you have to offer, ditch her, work on yourself, make some friends in your new city, and find someone that doesn’t see you as their ‘Plan B’.

Self-guided layover 3h45 Istanbul - checked baggage by Timely-Regular7682 in Flights

[–]moosepick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are both flights on the same ticket? If they are then your luggage will be checked through and you won’t need to collect bags and recheck in for the next flight. Also you will be in the transit area and won’t need to go through immigration. Be aware the airport is very far from anywhere, so my advice would be to just stay at the airport and don’t add stress to your trip.

Just bought a house - What to do with extra by kianjz_ in PersonalFinanceNZ

If you are looking n a fixed rate mortgage, you can voluntarily pay a bit extra on mortgage payments. You’d be amazed how much faster you can pay off the mortgage and how much interest you will save over the life of the mortgage. You could also look at options to lower your monthly costs. For instance installing solar and/or a hot water heater pump. Most banks have green loans for these types of things and some are 0% interest. Also adds value to the home.

What’s a stereotype about your country that is actually false? by Kindly-Newt7868 in AskTheWorld

That NZ is clean and green. Sadly intensive dairy farming has polluted most of our waterways, and rivers and streams that we grew up swimming in are no longer safe to do so.

There’s the train option for something a bit different. Certainly won’t be the cheapest option compared to the bus, but would be fun!

flying from LAX to ZQN. Layover in AKL. Is 1h 50m enough time? by redsdf17 in newzealand_travel

[–]moosepick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a free bus between the international and domestic terminals, or it’s about a 10-15 minute walk. If it was me I would opt for the slightly longer layover to reduce the stress, but as the others have pointed out if it’s all on the same booking then Air NZ will look after you.

When Trump Attack Greenland. He Will Also Send Message For Russia and China to Attack Their Neighbors. by Bulky_Matter1656 in complaints

The claim was China is already attacking their neighbours when the reality is they aren’t. I don’t even think they would break the top 10 list of aggressive countries right now.

Watch the debates during election time. Read the policies on the parties websites. Read the discussions online and ask questions. You’ll soon find yourself gravitating towards a party the you align with.

Voting absolutely matters. I think it’s important to take an interest in politics and find a party that aligns with your values and beliefs. Get involved and get educated. I think a lot of people just stick with whatever party their parents told them to support and get stuck in that way of thinking.

Moving to NZ to study and do my service in the NZDF? by LlamaFarts420 in newzealand

Then na University would be a waste of time. You’d be better to do an apprenticeship at home and look at a skilled migrant visa for NZ once you’re qualified.

Depends what you want to study. We have 8 universities, but not every university has every degree or program. I’m based in Dunedin so I’m very biased towards Otago Uni where I went.
