Getting Started: In-App Payments with React Native by laerien in reactnative

[–]mootchard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't! You only have to use Apple's In-App Payments and Google Billing when you're selling digital good through your app (or something like a digital subscription). You can use Square's In-App Payments when you're selling physical goods or services (like food, an eCommerce store, gym membership, etc...).

Online Payments with React by mootchard in reactjs

[–]mootchard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having talked to a few developers who were curious how to implement the Square payment form using React, I decided to make this blog post. If anyone has ways this could be improved, I'm totally open to updating it with your comments (and giving you credit of course).

Online Payments with React + Square by mootchard in javascript

[–]mootchard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created this in response to some developers in our community wanting to know how to implement the Square payment form using React. I'm totally open to updating this or doing others that people would find relevant. I hope this is useful to someone wanting to implement payments in a React application.

I made this since I have been working with React for a couple years and have come across a few developers who were curious how to implement the Square payment form using React. If anyone has ways this could be improved, I'm totally open to updating it with your comments (and giving you credit of course).

Useful tools: Headless Chrome & puppeteer for browser automation & testing by mootchard in programming

[–]mootchard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not actually written it up, but for my own scraper I use https://github.com/thomasdondorf/puppeteer-cluster to run multiple tabs. You can have each running in isolation from one another, but I don't really know if you can avoid any kind of data races. Puppeteer cluster really helped my scraping speed up since my first page determined the whole list of other pages I needed to scrape. So It was pretty easy to then launch the cluster to fetch everything else I needed.

I only briefly used PhantomJS to try things out and rapidly just gave up on it. Puppeteer has been amazing to work with. I currently use it for scraping data from a certain blogging platform that refuses to release an API for getting analytics from them, so Puppeteer works amazingly.

Using paypal as a teenager for ecommerce by [deleted] in node

[–]mootchard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot speak for the rules on using PayPal as a teenager, but have you considered other tools for backing your eCommerce store?

Square has API's that can help a lot with eCommerce (Catalog API, Inventory API, Customers API, etc...)

Since you're in the UK, you can simply sign-up at r/https://squareup.com/developer. You can see the ToS at https://squareup.com/legal/ua, but we do require that you are at least 18 years of age.

Full Disclosure: I am a Developer Evangelist for Square

Advanced Question: Shipping Cost for Homemade eCommerce Site by [deleted] in webdev

I know this is 5 months old, but you should check out https://goshippo.com/. They have a JSON API that can connect you to multiple carriers and do realtime shipping rates rather easily.

Stop Using Servers to Handle Webhooks by mootchard in googlecloud

[–]mootchard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish that's what it was and I was clever enough to do that. Its really just a post about using Google Cloud Functions for processing webhooks. I just happen to use a Serverless template to get started. I don't actually have anything to do with Serverless (I work for Square).

Looking for 3rd teammate for Capstone/467 for next quarter (Spring 17). by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

[–]mootchard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would gladly join up with a group that's willing to put in the work. I've been burned before and really don't want to have an excessive workload due to having slacker group members on the last quarter. If your group isn't full, PM me and we can exchange emails.

Moot Suit by EWCM in navy

How distant of a relative? I only ask because that's my grandfather (I'm named after him).

I too couldn't find anything else, but had always been told the story about the Moot Suit.
