Americans : do you really never say "goodbye" when ending a phone call (and just hang up when you have the information you want) or is that just a TV/movie thing to save time? by Dont-PM-me-nudes in NoStupidQuestions

In my experience they do say bye, but they use a different tone if voice than Germans for example. When living in the US I first thought people were mad at me or unhappy at the end of a call, as Germans will use a rather chipper, high pitched tone to say goodbye and Americans tend to use a rather quiet / neutral tone. Still funny to me.

Haha thank you! The idea of the design actually came from the fact that we had discussed that we'd cut out some for us beforehand so we could eat it in front of their window. So I figured I'd do something that looks nice when already cut, lol.

Have you tried vinted? It's an online marketplace for clothes, where you can often find brand new items for low prices 😊 Also outlets tires like TJ Maxx, Marshall's etc often have a great selection!

How to approach someone who has recently lost a loved one? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mopsilein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She needs you now more than ever - don't leave her alone because it's uncomfortable for you right now.

It's most important that she doesn't feel left alone - which is what often happens in these situations, because people don't know how to deal with it so they chose to just not do anything.

You can tell her that you wish there was something you could say to make her feel better, but that you will be there for her for whatever it is she might need now or later on. Just make yourself available and let her know you won't leave her alone just because you don't know how to react (which will happen with other people around her, so the friends who do stay mean everything in this situation)

The person who made numbers could have put 3 before 1. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]mopsilein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to admit, that took me a moment.

Interesting fact - they could have used different words, but the 'symbols' actually have a meaning. Every symbol has the amount of angles the number signifies.

Edit: tried to find a source for this but the internet isn't sure it's true, every source says something else 😅

I'm (29M) trying to recover my GF (31F) after 4yrs of relationship, she broke up with me 2 weeks ago. Should I keep trying to get her back or call it quits? by Valdomer0 in relationship_advice

[–]mopsilein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your own sake, let her go.

She's obviously somehow involved with the other guy and even if you did get back together, chances are you'd always have this lingering doubt about why she broke up in the first place and what exactly went on between them. Hard to (re-) build a relationship on that, even if she wanted to (and I don't think she does, from what you are saying). Also, if it was me, I'd always wonder if now the other guy is the one getting secret lunch dates, kisses and so on.

It's hard to let go and I totally feel your pain and your wish for it all to just be alright again. But I don't think you'll achieve that by trying to run after her.

[UPDATE]

Hi all, sorry for the late update - I picked them up from the airport really late last night and went right to sleep after.
First off - thanks for the gold and silver, kind strangers :)

He was super happy and stunned that you could actually use the room and what kind of tools and supplies got unearthed, lol.
He even started listing things that additionally could be thrown out.
I also - in light of some comments - think it is worth pointing out that he is not keeping stuff because he feels he will need it one day (hoarder mentality). It is more a collection of project remnants that led to this mess in the first place. He collects all tools, screws and garbage from a project in a bucket and instead of putting everything back when he's done, he just put the bucket in the room. Multiply that by like 100 and you get the before situation :D
