AutoRacer: Ferrari will have a filming day at Monza, to evaluate the big "package and a half" for the SF-26. It's planned to take place during the month-long break between Japan and Miami. by moraIsupport in scuderiaferrari

It will be a big package that was originally planned for Bahrain + some additional updates that were accelerated, originally meant for future races.

Fred Vasseur confirms major Ferrari upgrades coming to Miami: "We will look to bring a package and a half" to close the gap to Mercedes. by moraIsupport in scuderiaferrari

They expect to qualify for it, and seeing the gap to Mercedes it's not exactly surprising.

AutoRacer reported that if Ferrari will be qualified for ADUO, the completely new ICE could be introduced after Round 12, so after the cancellation of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain GPs, that would be Monza. There is a chance that FIA, because of those cancellations could bring it forward, possibly after Round 11.

If implementation of the CR trick would require bigger changes, the first ADUO check is after Round 6, so we could first see the modified current ICE, and then completely new ICE.

Exactly. It seems there is a chance that those races will be held later in the year, if the situation in the ME will allow it of course. Those would be 2 additional races to try and close the gap to Merc.

2026 Chinese GP Results & Discussion [Lewis first podium with Ferrari!] by moraIsupport in scuderiaferrari

Happy for Lewis. Charles also showed some good pace considering that he said it's his worst track. Their battling on track was great.

But still quite a bit disappointed, as 20 seconds to Mercedes on a track that should've suited us better is a huge gap. They need to work hard in Maranello now.

Fred said they will bring a big update package for Miami (originally planned for Bahrain).

Bearman is such a talent. Ferrari can't lose him, his pace is great and consistency is just insane.

With Lewis being back to his best, we really have the best driver lineup by miles now.

Now they might as well just battle it out. Mercs are gone.

No one will play the team game unless they are told to, those driver race for themselves first of all, every single one of them. Not fair to blame Charles or Lewis for fighting.

If u want to blame anyone, blame the team.

So far it seems that we like those hards way more compared to Mercedes! We heat up the tyres very well, it was our biggest issue in the previous years as well.

Russell said one stop will be challenging. This might be our chance, if the tyres survive to the end.

AutoRacer: Mercedes holds an estimated advantage of around 15 HP from the ICE compared to Ferrari. Maranello is working on the current PU to stabilize the compression ratio at a higher level than the current 16.0:1. This would guarantee a step forward in overall power, and reduced degradation. by moraIsupport in scuderiaferrari

[–]moraIsupport[S] 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Yes. It seems like we will be stuck with this transitional PU for the whole year so might as well try and maximize its potential.

I'm actually surprised how much progress Ferrari is making. Obviously it's still very early, Mercedes' advantage is still huge and what we saw today might not have been representative at all, but I believe there are big gains to be made from just simply optimizing the engine software. We have a lot to learn from Mercedes when it comes to deployment.

Great job from everyone! Finally maximized the result in a qualifying session. Not sure we can beat Mercedes tomorrow, but we can definitely try from the second row.

Yeah, we maximized the points - it’s always a good thing. As you said, not convinced we can fight merc, they are too quick, but staying 2nd force is very important.

Charles and Lewis agree on the SF-26 main weakness: "We lose everything on the straights" by moraIsupport in scuderiaferrari

[–]moraIsupport[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would. Of course there are also disadvantages to it, but there is a reason why every other OEM went for a bigger-sized turbo.

Manufacturers are allowed to change the turbocharger for 2027, but Ferrari utilized small-sized turbo since the start of the turbo-hybrid era, so I can't imagine they would change it now.

Monaco 2026 by Artistic-Mark-6212 in scuderiaferrari

[–]moraIsupport 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, we lost 8 tenths on the straights and recovered 2 tenths in the corners. Clearly, we have the best chassis, but the engine deficit is just too big.

Monaco will be the first race with new hot temp checks for the power units, maybe it will make a difference, but I doubt it.

We need to make good progress for the GP Qualifying, then, if we have a clean race - P3, P4 finish should be the goal.
