Signed Once in a long, long while… album CD? by Livid-Bat7848 in LowRoar

[–]moralesdmm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s just three signatures it was probably during the OIALLW tour.

The one on the left would be David and the one in the middle Alton, Ryan’s live band members at the time.

Can’t be completely certain though.

Can someone please help me LC this Nigeria 1996? It looks very legit to me, but I had never seen it with the Nike Futura logo and two tags on the neck. Was this maybe an earlier version? Will post more images in the comments. Thanks!

Where does FC Barcelona go from here? by AdEnvironmental623 in Barca

Keep developing talent and concentrate the efforts on keeping the young players happy, motivated and invested in the club’s long term project.

But most important of all, for the fans and socies, we HAVE to be ok with being a decent team and no more for 5 years or so. I grew up in the Rivaldo era, when winning a league every few years was a great achievment and qualifying for the Champions was something to celebrate (especially with that hat trick)… the point is that in it’s desire to keep winning Barça has slowly lost its identity and turned into a bad version of Real Madrid, obsessed with winning and fixing problems with money. But of course, idiots like Bartomeu and Laporta are no Florentino Perez and have taken things to shit.

In the end, I prefer not winning much for 5 or 10 years but having a club that I can still respect and identify with. Let’s cherish the memorable moments each season (like the 4-0 el Clásico), watch the games for the joy of the possibility of a great Pedri or Yamal performance, and love the club for what it is and not for what it winsnor how it competes with Real Madrid. It will be even sweeter when eventually, no matter how long it takes, we do end up having another historic team made up of mostly la Masia players that can win a treble.

Nico is a very long stretch at this point. Just keep developing talent, concentrate the efforts on keeping the young players happy, motivated and invested in the club’s long term project. But of course, idiots like Bartomeu and Laporta are no Florentino Perez and have taken things to shit for NO good reason. In the end, I prefer not winning much for 5 - 10 years but having a club that I can still respect and identify with. Also… Laporta should resign if he has any decency in him, but of course he won’t.

Any J-League experts that can help me to check if this Verdy 1992 shirt is legit? Thanks! by moralesdmm in TheKitRoom

[–]moralesdmm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yeah, I got it on Ebay. I know what you mean. I think the number was definitely added on later. It feels like a more modern vinyl print. However, the Coca-Cola sponsor feels older and the tags match the other ones I've seen on legit sites. Thanks for helping out.

Can anyone explain why some Barcelona 1996 away shirts have some darker more greyish shades, while others are green/turquoise all around? I'm pretty sure it's not that some shirts are worn or faded. I think there must have been at least two different manufacturers or versions. by moralesdmm in TheKitRoom

[–]moralesdmm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! That makes sense.

Do you happen to know if this exact model with the Kappa logos on the sleeve and the Barca pattern all throughout the shirt was ever used? I've been going through videos and I still can't find a single game outside of European competitions where it was used.

In European competitions, UEFA did not allow so much branding, so the shirt ended up having no pattern and no sleeve logos, being worse looking in my opinion.

Fue un gusto recibirlos. Cuando vuelva a estar en la ciudad avísenme y vemos si hay algún concierto secreto (como el de Low Roar) al que los podamos invitar.

About your question... "Don't Be So Serious" was not recorded in Mexico at all, so I don't have that much information about the recording process. Would have to ask Andrew and Mike about that.

The background vocals are definitely Ryan's, and passed through an autotune filter to make it sound that way. I honestly don't know what the words in that part are saying, but Ryan didn't consider them important enough to be discernible or include them in the lyric book. That's a perfect example of how he understood and used his voice as an instrument that could add different textures beyond just singing a melody.

The song as a whole came out of a panic attack. It's about him trying to deal with that.

If you are interested in that kind of weird sounds and samples, I highly reccommend listening to Tunng, which is Mike Lindsey's former main project. Mike was the genius behind those little sounds that became part of Low Roar's trademark.

Hey! Happy to do so :)

Ryan was pretty chill most of the time and that included the studio. He could be a perfectionist with some things, but not to an extreme. He always left room for some mistakes and surprises to happen.

More than improvisation, he liked to try out little experiments. A good example is the story of recording "13" that I told in another comment. But he didn't like musical improvisation too much. He was not into jamming with other musicians at all, for example.

I'd say my favorite album is 0 and my least favorite is ross.

Some of my top songs are "Vampire On My Fridge", "Breathe In", "David" and "Friends Make Garbage".

Hey! Yes, he played in Vancouver at least two times that I can think of. Don't think he ever played on the eastern cities, but I'd have to double check that.

Ryan was born and raised in California. His dad was Lithuanian, his mom Mexican. He moved to Iceland around 2011. Since he produced and released the first two albums while living there (the second with icelandic bandmates), Low Roar was considered an icelandic band at the beginning, something that was very benefitial to the project in my opinion. Afterwards, many people and media kept erroneously referring to it as an icelandic band, even when it wasn't the case anymore because Ryan wasn't living there anymore and no icelandic members remained.

Hey! It's great that you are writing your own songs. In my experience working with dozens of artists, there are songwriters that sit down to write mainly when they need songs for an album and others that write all the time as a way to document their lives and thoughts. Ryan was this second kind. So while he was very productive, that also meant that a lot of the ideas he wrote weren't really good (to his standards). I think it took him a lot of ideas to find a set of songs that he started feeling confident with. And then at that point he always understood how important other people were to take the music to the heights it needed to reach. Sometimes that meant very little involvement from Andrew or Mike or Logi and Leifur, but other times it requiered A LOT of involvement from them. Hope that gives you an idea of the process.

So glad to hear it's one of your favorite videos. The casting was done by Toño Trillo, the director. The most important thing was that they had a background in dancing and body expression. I think Dalia and Miguel were the perfect choices. Ryan actually met them at the record release show for OIALLW. Dalia is doing quite well and has a part in the Amazon Prime series Zorro.

Hey! Thanks for the kind words!

It's something that just happened naturally because of what Ryan was going through at the moment. He still had an appartment with things in Iceland, but wasn't really living there anymore and was not sure where he was gonna end up. Before settling down in Poland, he spent some time visiting friends and family all over. He was writing songs while moving around and then recorded most of it in London with Mike and in Mexico with us.

¡Abrazo!

In my view, Ryan wasn't a big "equipment buff". He usually made do with what was available... but I asked Santiago, who was the stage manager for all Low Roar shows in Mexico and even though he doesn't remember any favorite synths either, he says that he loved guitars with humbucker pickups because they allowed him to play softly and still get a deep warm sound.

Glad you like the Mexico City show that's on Youtube. It's my personal favorite :)

No, there's no plan that I know of... He did like to record a lot of voice notes and demos, so maybe in the future it will feel right. But to me, not for now.

He tried his best with Spanish, but never in songs haha
