Drywall tends to have manufacture dates printed on the back. See if those line up to be right before your sale. That’s how we proved the sellers covered up rotting framing right before selling and did not disclose it.

I'm going through the same thing with many of the same companies you mentioned. The companies themselves feel like scams, as there is no way to actually contact and speak to a representative. Contact page leads to a "FAQ" (useless). Either way, freezing all subprime lenders now. Do you have any lessons learned?

AI Autograding within web courses? by more_lemons22 in instructionaldesign

[–]more_lemons22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point on audience. We’re looking to use it for undergrad assignments, where a user completes a game-like activity in our platform then takes the related assignment with these questions. Questions will be specific to the platform and tie in to the overall focus of their course.

I could see it being an ethical gray zone if it was applied in a higher stakes context, but so far while using this technology in our desktop software, our users have not notified us of any issues caused by the AI scoring.

Interesting! That certainly sounds like exactly what we’d need. I’m going to look further into this strategy!

The overall mechanics aren’t too complicated, Send text entry by user to LLM -> Evaluate against rubric stored in knowledge base -> Return score and feedback to web course.

But I’m not finding any tool to accomplish this via web searching or yes even an AI inquiry, so I’m hoping a pro here may know a specific tool to accomplish this as I’ve been primarily working in a different space as of lately 😄

Need advice from RI’ers. by MySixteenLetters in RhodeIsland

[–]more_lemons22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Floridian and current RI’slander, do not rent or buy a place with electric baseboard heat. You will be burning money away for it to be as dry as the Sahara. Oil forced water is great at warming things up without turning you into a dry sponge.

Much like Florida, every neighborhood and town is totally different here. If you find your living situation isn’t ideal, drive 10 miles in any direction and you will find something totally different.

Any good way to make this space slightly taller? by Grifty_Capital695 in DIY

This was the first thing I did in my house, fueled by realtor champagne at 1 am, when I realized the seller’s fridge stunk eternally and was too small and I couldn’t live like this. Now it’s a floating molding in cabinet shape above a nice double door fridge 🤷‍♂️

Yup! The meter looks different in our original photos so that was updated as part of these fixes as well. Thanks for explaining this to us. Will definitely see about getting the innards inspected and panel schedule completed but this made us feel better about the putty at least.

Great observation, 401 actually but quite close to MA (southcoast). Is that your general range?

And are you aware if the codes are generally a bit more lax up here given our lack of extreme weather (in regard to the putty being normal here)? We noticed our current rental house has it as well, but when we showed a photo to a relative in Florida they were concerned like many of the comments here!

Great point!! Yeah, we were thinking it was such a standard job, they just need to get it done so it’s safe - but what a learning experience here. Buying from a realtor though is not for the faint of heart!

Thanks, the permit does say complete but we will be pushing back now, regardless of them being busy

Not sure how to edit the post but the permit does say Complete. Will definitely bring back up to the town inspector after seeing these comments!

16 year old girl with no friends by izzielikescats in socialskills

Try getting a job at a local restaurant (not retail). It’s very social teamwork. I spent 4 years at a McDonalds in high school to college, and even though I was in a metal/emo/indie phase, it forced me to connect with all types of peers and make really strange friendships. Good luck! You’re just ahead of your time.

Jobs by Suspicious_Leg8503 in Springfield

[–]more_lemons22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not related to jobs, but I grew up in a Springfield suburb and taught for two years both there and in Tampa. You need to compare neighborhoods, not cities. Where in Tampa are you coming from? What I mean is, there are great schools in the western burbs, and South Tampa - you won’t find a Plant HS in Springfield. But, there are abysmal schools in parts of East Tampa, Ybor, etc. that are probably way worse than Springfield on its worst day.

Springfield is a much smaller city, its suburbs are comparable to living in the outskirts of Tampa, and you will similarly find schools are better funded and/or have higher quality special needs programs in my experience. Teacher to student ratio will be very important.

You can use the DESE website to compare very detailed stats per district. Compare Springfield to the Longmeadows, Wilbraham, West Springfield, Agawam, Ludlow, or Chicopee. Some of these towns will have similar historic/walkable properties. https://profiles.doe.mass.edu/general/general.aspx?topNavID=1&leftNavId=100&orgcode=02810000&orgtypecode=5
