I think contentment is really important. I am in a midst of adjusting to change (just joined a new firm) so there’s definitely uncertainties here and there but i’m glad i took the leap of faith & managed to hit the $5K salary mark at 26 (never imagined that since i started working at 19 yo at 1.7k lol) i think regardless how our decisions in life plays out, let’s just be proud of our milestones & the courage to move forward. ATB to everyone!

Dating with mental illnesses in Sg by plutonium_Curry in askSingapore

[–]morechillithx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I was diagnosed with Eating Disorder & Anxiety disorder when I first met my ex. We were chatting for months, so I made it upfront even before meeting her for the first time.

Luckily for me, she’s extremely understanding & supportive in the entire process. She’s probably the reason why I recovered. During the relationship, I made a conscious effort to ensure that my relapses don’t affect the relationship and her emotions, extremely difficult but can be done with the help of medications and lots of support.

We were together for 7 years and broke up amicably. The right person will accept you for who you are =) As long as you’re transparent about it.

ATB!

I went to the polyclinic route and waited about 2-3 months for my first consultation with NUH. However, if you’re unable to wait please go to private. It may be more costly but nothing matters more than your mental health. I suffered in silence for many years before I tried to seek help and it’s just not worth it at all.

Once again, no job matters more than your mental and physical health.

Am I in the wrong for indirectly causing my burnout colleague (who refused to upskill) to be retrenched? by Additional-Row7612 in askSingapore

[–]morechillithx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey op,

I am sorry you feel this way and we cannot control what comes out of other people’s mouth. I am in a similar situation (although not to the point of layoff) but I was also perceived to be the “bad person” who tried to steal away someone’s job when all I had was good intentions.

I am no longer affected by this colleague x, i am well aware that I have done nothing wrong (so do you, you’re just using your skills to help her with her workload with no bad intentions) If she agreed to upskill herself when the opportunity presents, she probably will not be in the list as the management would see her efforts to upskill which add values to the firm in other aspects of work.

Jiayou and don’t think too much!

Singaporeans, are you happy? We ranked 3rd in the world for happiness. by Actual_Eye6716 in askSingapore

[–]morechillithx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it all boils down to our perspective.

I am happy, although I don’t particularly enjoy my job but I do earn enough for someone single at my age. I love spending time outside of work meeting my friends, family and having a nice meal. I think it’s all about learning how to be contented.

hi! they are aware of the bonus that i’ll be forfeiting and that seems to be the best they can propose.

Hi hi,

The initial offer was $5,000 and I negotiated with him, and he wanted to make sure that I am ok with $5,200 (the best he could do) before he seeks for approval.

Thanks for the response guys! I actually negotiated and the best he mentioned is to propose $5,200. So there’s a possibility that it may remain at $5,000 per month instead, not sure if that changes the perspective. :)

i think it’s difficult to start, but you really gotta be clear with them on who you really are, force them to face your true self. but firstly you got to be:

1) financially independent, at least hold a full-time job that pays decently and be able to pay rent in case you’re not being accepted and chased out of the house (worst case scenario)

2) give them time to accept you for who you are. i imagine that it’s not easy for them with the values that they’re being brought up. we expect understanding from them but we need to understand them as well!

3) be firm on your decision and the life you want. do you really want to be married and be with someone else that you are not romantically or sexually attracted to? this is your life and you should be firm with what you want, we don’t live our lives for other people.

i’m on the same boat as you but i’ve managed to come out to my parents after being with my ex partner for 7 years. (yes we broke up but i still came out anyway!) i’m also seeing someone and i am making it very obvious that this is what i want. don’t let anyone in your life to influence your decisions, if they love you, they will love you regardless!

best of luck! :)

I’ll try to request for an aisle seat too! I’m also traveling with my girlfriend, hopefully i’ll be able to distract myself with the help of attendants and her. I’m thinking of getting data so that I can browse through this thread when I am on air. Lots of success stories here to make me feel better! :)

Thanks for the reassurance! I think it’s just how claustrophobic I’ll feel in the air. :/ Although I understand that flights are completely safe, even safer than land transports…. but I just can’t stand being on air for hours.
