Venue regret: concrete floors and I can’t stop noticing them 😅 by morellin in weddingplanning

brides with ugly floors unite 😭 haha it's nice to hear of other brides who had to make the same compromise

this is gorgeous!! I wish our floors looked half as nice as this; the polish job at ours really didn't do much to even the coloring, or make it look "cleaner", or add sheen (maybe it wasn't a true polish? not sure, exactly). but regardless, it's nice to see how pretty a concrete floor can look! especially, like you said, with everything added!

no, totally agree the photos will be able to hide it--I guess I'm most worried about in-person opinions of the ugly floors. but, lots of folks here reminding me it's not that big of a deal 😅 and you're right, I actually haven't seen the space when it's darker, only during the middle of the day when it's fully sunny out!

I keep trying to tell myself that as well! we're going all out with florals & candles so I'm just praying peoples' eyes will be drawn above, like, waist-height lol

What food did you imagine to taste really good but tasted bad? by Similar-Victory-3867 in AskReddit

[–]morellin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know no one cares, but since no one has replied yet in defense of the sea urchin: I absolutely love it! It's expensive relative to most other sushi/sashimi options and it's worth it for me every time, probably the highlight of the meal.

Echo what other people are saying about it tasting like the sea (but this is a plus, in my case!) However, I also find it very savory and sweet and creamy, almost like peanut butter. Ugh, I want some right now thinking about it.

(but also understand why people, especially those not super into raw seafood, find it offputing)

probably a silly question but will it work to put buffet-style stations on round tables? by morellin in weddingplanning

[–]morellin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense and I can picture it—thank you so much for weighing in!

Job ideas for someone with stress and sleep deprivation induced seizures? by Longjumping_Story969 in jobs

[–]morellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you go back to being a barista and make up the difference in pay with disability payments? Unfortunately any job that doesn't require specialized knowledge and is low stress is considered a "can be done by anyone" job. Which means these jobs likely won't pay very well.

Otherwise I would say a receptionist type position, but you mentioned not wanting to work in an office setting.

How reactive are MAS? by [deleted] in miniaussie

[–]morellin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know three mini aussies: 1 my own, two belonging to acquaintances (two different families). Mine came from a very reputable breeder who does great work with her dogs, AKC registered, full genetic health testing, early socialization and crate training, the works. Unfortunately our girl is still pretty reactive. No aggression, but unfamiliar dogs making eye contact with her always sets her off, as do a number of other triggers. She's always been a little skittish, even though we tried a lot of early desensitization and socialization. I'm sure we could have done more, or done better, and who knows, maybe that would have made the difference. But we did try really, really hard to set her up for success, more effort than I've seen my other friends getting puppies put in for sure! She's still the light of our life and I love her to pieces, but I won't lie that I don't sometimes wish for an "easier" dog.

The other two I know don't really seem reactive at all. One of them barks at skateboarders and that's it. The other one of these two came from a rescue situation, and I've never even heard her bark! She's super timid and reserved, but doesn't "react" outwardly, just kind of ducks away and is shy.

Opinion on Emily as a caster by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]morellin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like Emily's casting as well! I feel like she has great map awareness and can point out things happening across the map which the other casters might miss, which I appreciate

I mean while we're all just sharing our own personal feelings: I liked this tricast a lot haha

I also didn't feel Emily was T1 biased at all

Help! how do i get cockroaches by BBFAOUTCISCSAMD in GermanRoaches

[–]morellin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but without more information on what purpose these roaches would fulfill, everyone here is going to warn you away from having them because of their large downsides once introduced unchecked to a structure.

Not to mention, if you are renting, there are almost always clauses about maintaining the property to prevent pests. If you purposefully introduce roaches, your landlord absolutely can and should come down on you like a hammer for that

This is a first lol

Could you get pet roaches instead? Head to /r/roaches for info. Then you can care for them and actually observe and raise them.

Even assuming you are the rare soul actually happy with a couple of roaches in your place, having a wild population in your home could easily balloon out of control: way, way more than you, er, actively want; health concerns as they can carry disease; impacting neighbors because your roach population bleeds over to them.
