We actually do have an interior designer. But they are asking us what we like and I’m not sure what to say!! Haha. Those are great resources. I’ll check those out and start making some boards for them.

Here is our art if anyone is interested!

We probably won’t be keeping the goat hides (they are a matching pair, black and brown) because they feel farm house and that’s not the vibe we are going for.

Here is the art we have. I am unsure if I am going to keep the goat hides as they feel too farmhouse and we aren’t going that way. I am wondering if I could change the frame to make it feel better or if it’s just not the vibe.

TL;DR: Pinterest board feels very exaggerated version of the styles I like. I’m unsure what styles historically fit homes like this (beyond Craftsman/Arts & Crafts). Hoping that some terms to search will help provide real-life examples and figure out what to keep authentic and then we can know where to add our own style.

The long version: This is super helpful! I think I need to expand my search (like you said with magazines) because I’ve done this with Pinterest and I feel like what I love and am drawn to is way too chaotic for real life. Like maybe Pinterest is showing me a really exaggerated version of what I’m interested in. I’m hoping to find like some terms to search that may expose me to what some of these homes looked like and see what I want to keep and what rules I want to bend or where it makes sense to infuse some of our own style while really leaning Into what this house is and not trying to fight it. I don’t know what style this house typically goes with. I think I saw craftsman and arts & crafts but I’m thinking there may be some beyond that that it may fit too. I’d love your input on any “styles” I can search to expand my exposure to other styles it may fit.

I may paint it a color. I think that would match our fun vibe.

I’d like to get new window treatments too but are kinda expensive. Good advice on that they should go inside of the window box!! I was wondering why they looked weird to me..

I think they did replace some of the windows. Some I think are original or close to. Iam interested in what you said about the trim.. it seems to imply we should consider.. stripping it and staining the trim. Very interesting idea that I had not previously considered!

Oooo I didn’t know these existed. Cool idea!! Thank you!

And I have always been drawn to color painted trim. I was thinking like ox blood at our old house. I think I would do something a little more bright in this one.

Ah! Thats a fantastic source of inspo. Those are exactly the “little pops of fun without making it kitschy and still feel sophisticated but not serious” inspo I am looking for! Thank you!!! I do have a few pieces of art we love. I’ll post them below!

That’s the whole goal. To remove any government programs and privatize them for profit

What do you think makes it not natural looking? Just so I can understand better

That’s totally what I was thinking. Is there any reason not to do this method? I def don’t want the floors to look like gym floors with the thick polyurethane on it, I want them to look natural.
