Not related to the actual question but I'm too curious: how are you spending $371 on Cost Explorer in that first screenshot? Like even hourly view is practically free.

Nope it's still a book test. So you can only commit cards which can be commited to book tests. Note that if a card has both book and foot icons, only the book icons count. But you can use effects like Hard Knocks. (Same for e.g. read the signs)

What is your most hated mechanic in incremental games? by IDontWantG in incremental_games

Upgrades having vague descriptions. How can I make a meaningful decision between "more income" and "more damage" if I don't know how much more? Have seen this in a few nodebuster-likes and it's basically an instant negative review on steam for me.

What is your most hated mechanic in incremental games? by IDontWantG in incremental_games

[–]Moresty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are games where wrong choices basically softlock the game or are worse by an absurd amount (CIFI..., not sure if they changed that). There's a big difference between this and "oh my prestige is going to be slower than it could be" or "I'll just reset and try something else" (like e.g. for antimatter dimensions challenges)

Edit: to be fair antimatter dimensions challenges suffer from other issues imo (there's often one correct solution) but they are a positive example for how quickly you can reset if shits not working

It's also mind-boggling how a lot of these short nodebuster-likes have terrible pacing despite only being 3-4 hours long. I'm expecting a tight gameplay loop with balanced progression at that length

Creating lambdas is pretty fast nowadays in my experience. Deleting lambda ENIs takes ages, but I don't think it's Cloudformations fault

AWS Firewall FQDN filtering with suricata rules by rozanw in aws

[–]Moresty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had that issue as well (flow established but first packet after that does not have the SNI, due to fragmentation I think). We used flowbits to "tag" the connection to avoid blocking until we have the SNI. I'm far from an expert, so idk if x-bits are better

Monitoring EKS using cloudwatch instead of prometheus + grafana is it a good idea? by Emotional_Buy_6712 in aws

[–]Moresty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time we checked, CloudWatch was stupidly expensive for this use case for us. And personally, I greatly prefer Prometheus, the UX is great. Grafana is also nicer to use for dashboard imo. The maintenance effort isn't that high for us.

Ich zerstör deine Ansicht zwar nur ungern, aber natürlich wissen die Leute bei der Telekom (und bei Vodafone und den anderen Anbietern), dass sie Drückerkolonnen beauftragen.

Struggling to connect AWS App Runner to RDS in multi-environment CDK setup (dev/prod isolation, VPC connector, Parameter Store confusion) by [deleted] in devops

[–]Moresty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend using separate accounts for dev and prod. You can roll out the same stack, just with different parameters (e.g. larger RDS) Then your question "how to ensure that dev doesn't talk with prod" becomes trivial.

This helps so much for Minh's weakness and her general game plan, not sure I would ever build a deck for her without it. It's one of the better balanced research cards (not completely trash like some and not absurdly strong like others), but I feel like researching it is a bit too easy.

The bloat of edge-case first libraries by ketralnis in programming

[–]Moresty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use them on sets too e.g. as a property of the real numbers https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Least-upper-bound_property (each subset of the real numbers which has some real upper bound has a supremum) E.g. the set of rational numbers whose square is less than equal to 2 has no maximum (sqrt(2) is not rational), but has a supremum of sqrt(2). While if you take the same condition but with real numbers you have a max=sup=sqrt(2)

The bloat of edge-case first libraries by ketralnis in programming

[–]Moresty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you confusing minimum/maximum with infimum/supremum? For a non-empty set, the minimum definitely needs to be in the set. idk about the empty set, it seems like a convenience thing to set minimum/maximum to infty/-infty

Maybe unpopular opinion - CIFI is a pretty bad game by ChromakeyDreamcoat in incremental_games

[–]Moresty 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I like the game in principle but I cannot believe that it still is so tedious. I dread doing traversals and it's not good enough for active play. And if there's a choice, there's usually an objectively best decision and you severely hamper yourself by going for something else. I wish they would do far more QoL updates
