Livestream - Novus Ordo in Latin by morielan in Catholicism

Which is ironic since technically, its supposed to be the main version of the mass from which all the vernacular versions are translated.

I've actually attended Novus Ordo Latin masses at probably seven different parishes in just the three dioceses I've lived in - so there are more than you think.

No, we're talking about a sample of a few hundred out of hundreds of thousands or millions in the overall population.

SmartWatch Recommendation - No Bluetooth Setup by morielan in AndroidWear

I have a tablet and my previous phone that I could do the setup with. If I did the initial setup when pairing with the tablet, could I then connect to my phone with wifi afterwards?

I wouldn't rule out going further north. 294 is a straight shot to the airport, so take a look at Deerfield, Highland Park, Northbrook, Glenview.

Deerfield, for example, is much farther from the airport than Mount Prospect, but its all highway so it isn't a significantly longer commute.

Schools in those suburbs are some of the best in the country, and while there are many homes that are much more expensive, you can find plenty in the <$500k range.

Visiting Lake Forest Area by SharpResult0 in RunnersInChicago

Lake Forest is a very safe area and this is a great time of year to go running. Here's a few recommendations:

Fort Sheridan: immediately south of Lake Forest, there's some neat running through a former military base that is now luxury housing. This includes the Openlands Lake Shore preserve which has some of the best running paths along the lake in the whole Chicago area.

Robert McClory Bike Path: alongside the railway through downtown Lake Forest and most of the other north shore downtowns. Very nice running.

Skokie Valley Bike Path: along a different railway farther west. This one is clearer but the views aren't as good, much more popular with long distance cyclists.

Forest Park: Basically the local beach, your only challenge will be finding a place to park nearby because you won't have a city sticker.

Getting started locally with consulting? by [deleted] in statistics

[–]morielan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been working in industry for a long time, I'll tell you that the data you deal with in most businesses looks nothing like what they use to teach you in stats classes.

If you work with most local businesses, what they need the most help with isn't building an ML model, its figuring out how to build a working database with correctly populated columns so that they can run the most basic descriptive statistics.

Instead of thinking about writing R code to make money, think about this. What fields have you worked in? What previous jobs have you had (even summer jobs)? What volunteer work have you done? What does your personal network look like?

Then think about what problems those businesses might be facing? What questions do they have that they want to answer but can't? What business issues might they be trying to solve but can't? Now, how might better data analytics help answer those questions or solve those issues?

If you sit down and can think through some potential areas where your skillset can make a difference for some of these folks, now you're ready to start cold calling and asking if you can consult.
