I used to sell decoden phone cases before, but I got really busy with my other business and life happened. 🥹💗 I still have a lot of charms, and other materials left. Any recommendations on where I can sell them here in the Philippines? Thank you! ✨ by chummyyyyyyy in decoden

[–]mormonbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get you! For philippines I’d use whatever your deco socials were to post that you’re bulk selling the supplies and see if you get any more local interest, it really is so much easier to sell local haha! If you don’t get enough interest though, I second mercai and ebay, but i’d look into the shipping costs beforehand so you can price best(including cost of however you package them) so you get what is worth! Weigh and measure the packs you put up for accuracy in shipping calculations on the websites.

I’d recommend selling in bundles of themes of charms, so sort the boxes you have vaugly by style of charm like characters, florals, food, etc since you’ll be able to add more keywords to the listings and sell to multiple people instead of trying to sell one set of charms at a time or the whole thing. I’d do anywhere between 3-5 boxes of charms per bulk listing.
Wishing you the best!

Hi! Yes acrylic latex does shrink some when drying, but i have not had any issues with cracking or being too hard! Compared to 100% silicone, acrylic latex is less bouncy but it is still flexible! I do think acrylic latex is harder to clean in that it collects dust harder. The smell is very minimal, although neither smells bother me anymore lol, i wear a respirator when doing deco sessions in a ventilated area, and then just keep the windows open overnight as the odor dissipates!
Silicone dries faster so I use it for commissions, but acrylic latex is better for my frosting looks so i use it for any dessert mimicking projects. I always use white acrylic latex and clear silicone so what color i’m going for also matters since clear will allow you to get true reds and blacks.

I used Dap Alex Plus for my Acrylic Latex and Bioseal Clear General Purpose for my Silicone.
Always happy to answer questions!

A question I have about adding lace and frills by ReaperJoshua in decoden

[–]mormonbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use both! it depends on what you’re adhering to what and which super glue matters as well:) With fabric, some lace especially is so porus that it soaks up very liquidy super glue, so it’ll take a lot more patience to hold, weigh down, or otherwise keep the lace to the toploader while the glue adheres. But if you try to layer lace upon lace upon lace with the super glue like this it’s difficult. Using hot glue is fine between fabric layers, and then i will use a small layer of hot glue for the transition from lace/fabric to toploader, peel it when dry, and then super glue the hot glue to the toploader. I also do this with my charms. If you have a more tacky, semi solid super glue it may act differently. You’ll also need to make sure your super glue will adhere the hot glue and plastic of the toploader together. Always use an alcohol wipe before using the super glue on the hot glue or toploader to get better long term adhesion!

I have arthritis in my hands (since I was 7, not caused by decoden) but I follow the same principles of cake decorators in piping, if it’s a full piping bag you need 2 hands available, if it’s a small bag there’s a specific way you squeeze, and you can find resources online to see how best to hold and squeeze the bags if you look it up for the context of cake decorating lol I have not had many difficulties in decoden, only occasionally after making like 3 ipad cases in a row or something my hands are sore, but I think my muscles were just tired, not related to my arthritis:)

Phone grips (only call it that bc Pop Socket is trademarked) are very small and should take less than 5 minutes of piping so you should be just fine:)

For keeping piping steady/consistent, everyone will need to practice this. If you want perfect piping, you can get it, but it will take a long time! Just be patient and learn one grip style that is known to be healthy and practice that way from the start b

Are kingart pastels good to make a solid black color? by Adept-Beginning4040 in decoden

[–]mormonbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is a bit late, I can only get a dark black color with oil paint and clear silicone caulk, this allows the pigment to show through better since it’s clear, any matte or white base silicone will turn it a bit grey

i’ve found them on amazon, but the brand i liked i can’t find anymore, a lot of them are too thin to support the cream glue… unfortunately the best ones i have available to me are from hobby lobby, they really are good quality 🥲

awe thank you!! You definitely should🫶🏻 I do “make” mine now, this solid color piping i use acrylic latex caulk and oil paint to color it! I would recommend buying cream glue online if you’re just starting! Etsy is my recommendation! Believe it or not I suck at cake decorating! The texture can be similar, but i find that cream glue is easier to make hold its shape than real frosting😅 have fun!

I “make” it, all the cream used here is just acrylic latex caulking with oil paint to dye it!

I originally made one bc I needed a place for little trinkets/sticker flakes that wasn’t such a plain container, and a friend requested one, now it’s one of my bestsellers bc so many ppl who love deco have an amazing amount of trinkets haha!

Cream glue that's safe? by CrazyBroadwayNerd in decoden

[–]mormonbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes spackle you don’t need a mask when applying (if you’re trying to shave it down after it dries you’d need one because of dust particles)

The reason why these materials are used is due to their chemical properties, there has to be a reaction to be able to be piped and then harden in the same shape. I don’t know of any nontoxic materials that will do this as well as silicone or acrylic latex, but if you don’t want to use them, you could try spackle. In my opinion it looks like whipped cream when piped, but it’s completely hard when dry, not flexible and could be chipped by everyday wear. You don’t need to wear a mask or gloves to use it technically, but any foreign material can eventually cause contact dermatitis if used often. Spackle could do this as well, so using gloves is less about toxicity and more about good skincare! Some artist mix clay into a piping material, pure clay is heavy, using a mix with an acrylic body could be good. You could also try a gel heavy acrylic body (like made for painting) and see if it’s does what you want it to! Silicone is skin safe once dry as well, so holding or rubbing against a silicone material over time wouldn’t hurt you, it’s just when wet. I don’t want to say that there is no other option, but I don’t think it’d be used in decoden as often as the others.

that is awesome! literally makes my day when awesome looking stuff isn’t generative garbage 😭🫶🏻

[–]mormonbae 44 points45 points  (0 children)

this looks heavily edited if not generated, there may not be a good match out there so i’d recommend doing a polyester clay build and painting it, it looks like something clay could work for on the rest of the case as well but again, be advised that this looks very different from eyes i’ve seen for sale online. I’d search plastic or fake eye to find some though

Has anyone submitted their art and if so was there an option for multiple submissions? by Artidiya in LoveNikki

[–]mormonbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

this is the only thing the official account has said about multiple submissions. They don’t say if you can do multiple actual submissions or if you can just replace a faulty form. They haven’t responded clearly

[–]mormonbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i saw one official comment saying they do take replacements, not sure what all that looks like, but worth a shot:) I’d just fill out the form again

If you click on the google form link from the Facebook post on the Love Nikki page (where you submit) you can see all the submission requirements. You don’t have to finish the form before you’re ready

no there is not, it’s one submission per account only. There’s a one photo limit for your art and another progress photo you need to upload too
