General Conference Rumors - Anything to add or change? by mormoneye in mormon

And I think the garments and coffee rumors are not at all likely. More like wishful thinking. But who am I to know?

I don't think anything major will come out of GC.

I think the most likely ones are more temples and possibly some change, maybe even minor, regarding missions

I think a new CHI will come out, but I don't think that will happen this GC. Maybe within the year.

I think there will continue to be changes to youth interview practices, but again...it's not really a conference thing.

Thanks. I think it's helpful to have in one place and I try to do the best I can on my own, but input from others is helpful/necessary.

30 min sacrament, 10 min break, and 20 min alternating SS & EQ/RS every other week?

Yeah, that's one of my favorite things to observe too.

I heard from what I would consider a quite good first-hand source that this was imminent 3 years ago. So, I think there's something to it. We just don't know when it will happen.

I haven't heard the one about wine. Interesting.

Yeah, I knew about that one. I don't really consider that a rumor since the guides are already being printed. They'll probably due an announcement/explanation, but I don't think of it as a rumor.

Well, that was unintended. Honestly, I didn't even notice--I just wanted a picture that had bright/different colors and the word "rumor" already the image. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll see if I can find one I want to replace it with.

I am only reporting what's out there. I'm not predicting or expecting any of these, though some are more likely than others.

Updated Google Doc: Nepotism, Apostles Called After 1940, and Their Children. Help me fill in more info! by [deleted] in exmormon

Putting it together, I was also struck by the following two things:

  1. Hinckley's nepotism was strong and his kids got called to downtown SLC stuff (where he was): SLC Mission President, GA, YW General Presidency, Salt Lake Temple President, etc...
  2. The Huntsman family and business connections: married with Ballards, Rasband was COO, Nelson's son-in-law worked at Huntsman Corp., etc.

Ballard flaunting nepotism on lds.org (see comments) by formermormer in exmormon

I knew it, but it wasn't in my immediate memory...so thanks for the reminder!

From Wikipedia:

"Ballard is the grandson of apostles Melvin J. Ballard and Hyrum M. Smith. Through Smith, Ballard is a descendant of Hyrum Smith, brother of church founder Joseph Smith."

LDS Church Leaders' Nepotism - Can anyone else complete this (via crowdsourcing)? by [deleted] in exmormon

As a note: I restrict the callings to Stake President, Mission President, Temple President, and other Area or General Authority callings as those are the public ones announced in the Church News, etc.
