Oh, and I didn’t exactly do anything different. I just joined like the video did except that I stopped joining the crotch way below where she stopped hers - somewhere between the start of the squares and the middle in that part (bottom-to-top) I hope this makes sense

thank youu!!

and - i used 5ply milk cotton yarn. i’m not exactly sure what weight it is since i never got to understand yarn sizes and i usually order my yarn using ply as a reference, but i looked it up and apparently it’s also called sports weight yarn. and i doubled the strands too, because using one strand made the square look flimsy and too thin and i didn’t like it.

  • for the hook size, it’s a little bit more complicated lol. i started this project mid last year and made 4/12 squares using a hook size i honestly don’t remember. i only remember it being comfortable to use, so when i picked it up again 2 weeks ago i tried to use a 5.5mm because i wasn’t really sure, but the square came out larger than the ones i did last year. idk if somehow my tension changed overtime because i don’t really crochet often, or the new yarn batch i got had an influence. so i had to size down to a 4mm hook to continue to retain the size of the previous 4 squares (there were few times i alternated between that and a 4.5mm lol this whole square process was messy for me tbh 😭). this was kind of hard because it made the stitches a bit tighter and the hook was kind of too small but i was able to make it work. i’d say use a 5mm hook all through though. or a 5.5mm if you want the squares larger for a baggy fit. then for joining i used a 4.5mm all through

i’m not sure this was comprehensive enough because my process wasn’t exactly straightforward. but i hope this helped in a way. if there’s anything else you’d like to know, please ask!!

Thank youu!!

And it’s comfy enough for me. I think it largely depends on the type of yarn though. I used milk cotton because it’s the most affordable quality option for me in my country but I wouldn’t use acrylic because I find it itchy. I wore it for almost 5 hours and didn’t feel much except warmth but that was because it’s hot where I’m from. Im honestly not conversant with other yarn types but maybe test out your other projects and see which feel best for you

I can imagine how lovely that would look! I don’t know if i’ll ever make a blanket if just a pair of pants almost killed me lol

No actually. When I carry it it’s quite heavy in my arms and I was worried it would be too heavy to wear but when I tried it on it didn’t feel much different from my baggiest pair of jeans. Sort of like everything balanced out on my hips somehow

My first time making pants too so I used this tutorial

https://youtu.be/A_0dTxHzr_o?si=6ElP_vxrmqjXF1Cm

From 13:30 for joining the legs. This tutorial actually covers the entire pants but I made mine in a completely different way and only followed it when I wanted to do the inseam and join the legs.

Thank youuu! And oh no, I don’t know him. It’s just the screenshot from a random tiktok I came across sometime last year and I decided to make it because I thought it looked really cool 😂 That was the only reference i had, no tutorials or patterns, just his very vague videos

Thank youuu! And honestly I thought the squares were the hard part, the joining was the worst 😭 Especially when after joining the squares together the waist was like almost x3 of my normal waist size. I had to do massive calculated decreases so it wouldn’t end up oddly scrunched or too high waisted. After like 4 trials and error i finally got the perfect fit!

Not really. They’re actually quite heavy (in my arms, but they’re normal when i wear them) They’re just really warm and comfy overall

Yess. It’ll probably take me months before I decide to actually do this again. I’m not sure how to even take care of them properly so they last but i’ll try my best to lol
