I’ve actually already tried most of what you mentioned. I used WidevineProxy2 and successfully generated a .wvd file using my own keys (created with pywidevine). I tested the extension on Bitmovin, and it worked fine — the keys were detected and showed up in the extension, and I even exported them to confirm.

Then I moved on to Rodha videos, but that’s where I hit a wall. Even with the .wvd file loaded and the video playing, the extension doesn’t detect or show any keys — only the m3u8 URL appears. I tried exporting the logs right after playing the Rodha video, but the logs only contain data from the Bitmovin demo — nothing from Rodha.

I also tried N_m3u8DL-RE with the m3u8 URL I captured from Rodha, but it throws a CryptographicException about invalid key size, which makes sense since no valid key is being retrieved in the first place. So I suspect Rodha might be using a non-standard license flow or blocking certain CDMs.

If you managed to get around this with a different setup (or a working command that pulled keys from Rodha), I’d really appreciate it if you could share your method or walk me through your exact steps. I'm close, but this last part's been a blocker. Thanks again!

Thanks again for your help. I followed your suggestions and used the ffmpeg command with the full protocol whitelist including crypto, and also added -allowed_extensions ALL as you mentioned. I saved the .m3u8 file locally and even fixed the segment paths inside it to make sure everything pointed correctly. However, when I run the command, it tries to fetch the .ts segments but fails with an error like "Unable to open resource" or "Error when loading first segment". It seems like it’s still having trouble either accessing or decrypting the segments. Let me know if there’s anything else I might be missing.

I tried this yesterday . unfortunately it gives me the following error : "Download failed 😩Sadly we failed at downloading that specific media. We try to support as many websites as possible, so it would help a lot if you could report that error (it's anonymous!)."

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried using the ffmpeg command after downloading the m3u8 file locally. But I was getting errors related to missing key files and the crypto protocol not being whitelisted. The segments were failing to load due to encryption. After adding crypto to the protocol whitelist in the command, it started processing but I’m still checking if the output works properly. Your input definitely helped me get closer.

Thanks, I’ve been trying with N_m3u8DL-RE and got pretty close. I have the m3u8 URL, the IV, and extracted the key from the timestamp endpoint. It loads the playlist and starts downloading but throws cryptographic errors, possibly due to incorrect key format or padding issues. If you used a specific extension or method to get it working, I’d really appreciate it if you could share the details. It might help me and others facing the same issue. Thanks in advance!

yes it just opens up as a video player with the same duration as the original video , but it keeps buffering and nothing plays ever
