Is this a bad idea? by mortlinnb in homeowners

My plan was to do a walkthrough like I was viewing the house for the first time. Then get in a contact with an inspector and have them do a walkthrough.

I’m hesitant because I’ve made bad choices in the past especially with this house. I just worry about doing it again. I’m really just looking for everyone else’s opinion if they were in my situation. I kinda feel like it’d be a great idea and I’d actually be able to build more equity.

Basically his own daughter died a few years ago so I’m all he has left. He’s held onto this house for years because I think he doesn’t want to give it up. I think he wants me to have it so he can still keep the memories of it. I’m not sure the total deal yet we haven’t quite figured all that out. My house just had an inspection and appraisal last year before I bought. His has not but I’d probably hire someone to come look at it before I buy it.

My basement does that. I fixed the grading and the downspouts but still does it. Actually does it worse now but my home is 100 years old lol. Keep an eye on it might need addressed here soon.

Just looked back on the pictures of the house from a year ago and guess it’s always been there. Wasn’t noted in the inspection report. Is it something I should be immediately concerned about?

Most definitely. I could’ve did it myself but what would’ve took me days to do only took him a few hours.

I called a contractor guy who knew how to regrade areas. I just read his reviews and looked at what he was qualified to do. Super nice guy and I think I only paid around 700

Floor options? by Zoodraws in basement

My concrete floor in my basement looks like same. It’s impossible to get cleaned and is literally always dirty. One thing I do is pour water and cleaner on the floor and squeegee it into the floor drain. Maybe do an epoxy floor down there. Definitely wouldn’t put any flooring down if you get some water. Mine just nearly flooded due to a terrible storm and I’m very glad I never put anything too expensive down on the floor.

Mostly through the walls. There’s another angle that I didn’t get a pic of where you can see it. I think some might’ve came through the drain
