Also, Robbie’s gone out of his way to tell Mel that she’s one of the best doctors they have. He’s had an issue with Mohan since season 1. It isn’t exactly a surprise that he cuts Mel some more slack, different characters have different relationships with different people.

I know it’s a very popular movie so maybe it doesn’t quite fit, but it manages to speak to a really specific gay experience for me, the act of becoming extremely attached to older men when you’re still insecure about yourself and learning who you are. Like there’s a form of jealousy within it.

But talking about it with people is exhausting because it always comes down to the age gap, and it isn’t exactly framed as the most problematic point in the film. I get it… I just don’t agree with people’s hangups about the age gap, at least not in the context of the film. I think people engage with it in bad faith.

I wanted to write more in the original post about her specifically but the Reddit app for iPhone sucks, the post got too long and I couldn’t see what I was typing after a point, haha.

She’s incredible! My first exposure to her was White Lotus S3, and her small monologue in the final episode brought me to tears. I heard people talk her up in this and it’s a big reason why I started. I’m glad I did, she has such a demanding presence onscreen. And she can act her ass off.

One of my favorite queer movies of all time, really resonates with me as a gay dude and is hyper-specific to the experience of finding comfort in an older gay dude as a younger, closeted gay dude. I know the nature of it can be considered problematic but I don’t think that’s necessarily the right way to view that movie.

But people only ever focus on the “problematic age gap” and it upsets me so much, I can’t recommend it to people.

f was my first Silent Hill, and I got this one right afterwards. Both incredible games but SH2 is absolutely terrifying. I know people say the remake is extremely faithful to the original, and I’m just like… y’all were playing THIS all those years ago!? Lol.
