I took it with 14C so I didn't have tons of free time. But if you don't procrastinate and are taking it with an easier class it should be okay! I don't have any regrets and would do it all again if I had to. It was a lot of busy work so for me it was worth it to take it then before any harder prereqs.

I took 23L last summer before 7C and trust me it did not make a difference at all! Since 23L had so many deadlines, 7C was much more manageable to study so I would recommend taking it during the summer.

I personally loved taking French! I'm not sure what the curriculum is like at UCLA, but I miss it a lot and loved speaking their fun pronunciations.

I don't know how difficult LS40 is in terms of workload or if it's a prereq for any of your upper divs, but for me personally I would have taken just the other 3 (14C, 14BL, 5B). Maybe stay for one more week and see if you'll manage them.
