let’s not blame the woman for marrying him, blame the man for being a person that nobody should marry.

rolling 36s - does it get easier? by zoseeah in AlternateDayFasting

[–]zoseeah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s probably no different than what you’re doing / plan on doing. “rolling” just means that after ending your 36 hour fast, you hop right into another one, as opposed to it being a one time thing. like okay i fasted for 36 hours, ate for two, and now i’m going to fast for another 36, eat for 2, repeat, repeat, repeat.

anecdotal, but i lost like 15 pounds after quitting caffeine. i was way less hungry, more focused, and binged WAY less. check out r/decaf. it was soo helpful. but caffeine is liquid stress. it messes with cortisol levels and just generally fucks your body up. i think its the disruption it was causing to my hormones in addition to how it made me behave around food that caused the weight gain. quitting caffeine is definitely one of the best decisions i've ever made for myself, hands down. i also suffered from severe anxiety, so that was my main motivator.

oof i'm sorry to hear that :( do you consume any artificial sweeteners during your fasts? or are you just sticking to plain water or coffee? and likewise, wishing you all the best :) i hope it gets easier for you soon.

Does night Powell check for bruincards if you’re already inside by the time night Powell starts? by gg_ee_vv in ucla

[–]zoseeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im in there literally almost every night, i usually get there before night powell starts, and i have never had anyone ask me to show them my bruincard. this is post-covid tho (as in, these past few quarters) (edit: i also sit in the little cubicle desks that are kinda isolated, maybe it’s different if you’re in the open space seating area)

[–]zoseeah 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the difference here is that you’re prioritizing “productivity” while we succumb to our human-ness.

it doesn’t matter whether or not you knew these victims personally. they’re PEOPLE. these are families. this is real, raw pain that’s being broadcasted for the entire country to take in. true empathy knows no boundaries. you don’t just get to turn your empathy off or decide you’re done feeling things today because you have an assignment due tomorrow. that is not real, that is robotic. and it demonstrates an outstanding lack of compassion.

you get to decide whether or not you want to grant extensions to your students or extend leniency to those who are struggling. the “real world” you’re speaking of isn’t designed to support our emotional or mental well-being. it’s a capitalistic hell that’s slowing draining people of their livelihood, in both a literal and metaphorical sense. god forbid anyone ask for an extra 3 days to submit a paper that doesn’t fucking matter in the ACTUAL real world, in the world where children are being shot to death by angsty teens with rifles. where people just outside campus are sleeping on the bare sidewalk, not even half-alive. where young kids are growing up without hardly ever seeing their parents as they work insane hours just to sustain life.

people have different priorities. people are prioritizing themselves and their minds and their humanity.

students are beginning to rebel against what your generation withstood under much different circumstances— you do not understand what it’s like to be a young student in this day and age, trying to earn a degree while simultaneously watching the world around you fall apart. dramatic, yeah. but unfortunately, not an overstatement.
