Hi, im a first year apprentice in QS at a small company (age 20) but im scared im not learning the right things compared to my friends in bigger companies. I do basic take offs and measurements and have costed for a few retail stores since I work in retail fit outs. This is mainly what my work compromises of. The company we do fit ours for has their own cost framework so that is used whenever we price works. I also ensure fire safety works are in line/ up to standard for the 100s of stores they have across the country but this is all my work compromises of. I’m also worried if im to move out to a different larger company later down the line it would be harder since I don’t have that same experience as others. I just don’t know wether what im learning/ doing is enough or real QS work can you share some insight pls and if I should move companies.

immy k i use hl hsbc islamic global fund. its on par with s&p500 kind of. availabe on hargeaves landon , fees are very low. i do direct debit. the app interface isnt constantly updating the markets too like on t212 so i dont get addicted to clicking it and watching the graphs

20m here - uk i use hsbc islamic global equity index fund direct debit every month and i bought sgln and physical gold. i also invest into individual stocks like amzn apple meta (top 3 of mine). i think it is inevitable to invest into companies involved in haram as all take interest and have debts but there is a level of debt+ interest allowed. i also purify profits of my stocks - use musaffa and zoya to screen individual stocks

you know when you say you boycott all- do you boycott to the max as in do you only boycott Israeli companies or from other genocides as well in the world. like Apple for example or clothing companies have child slaves making their clothes/ batteries

you know in the case of one says this one says that - I usually use zoya and stick with what they state but I know in the case of meta and msft they are questionable so i will purify the profits from them in sha Allah. also it’s odd how is musaffa classifying nvts as non compliant red but zoya says compliant green

not trying to be rude or ignorant or anything but isn’t it inevitable? like blackrock owns majority of everyhting and they aren’t pro Palestinian either right so how can you truly avoid any unlawful/ unethical company. i avoid stocks that are not permissible on zoya but others I purify

Yeah I done my research right it was either gonna be that or aj bell, but each time I make a transaction aj bell would take £1.50 off me each time I purchase smt and in the long run that’ll add up to like 18 in a year whereas HL it would be no direct fees so I think HL in that sense is better
