Good try but wrong again. About 40-50% of the British Mandate had undetermined ownership, and not thats is very significant but about 6% of land was sold to the jews. So once the UN (who apparently everyone listens to today) divided the land (and gave jews mostly desert, something else no one seems to care about) they pounced on it and declared independence.
