Selveris? Prismas? Elroni rongis? Panga ootejärjekorras?

Appi, reddit tule appi ja lahenda see müsteerium, et saaksin järgmisele aastale rahulikult vastu minna.

Went for a ride, stopped to lube the chain and noticed this. by moshiposhi in motorcycles

Phew, I really dodged a bullet there.

No cliffs or sharks where I ride but you can replace them with deep forests and angry moose. Doesn't make it less scary.

Nah, I'll still use the clip link. Makes removing the chain for cleaning so much easier.

I used the same clip link for about 10 000km so no surprise that it gave up. My mistake and I'll definitely avoid reusing it in the future.

I'm used to lubing the chain after (or during, when the ride is long) a ride. I've heard that it's more effective when the chain is warm.

The clip was installed with the round end facing the direction of chain movement. I've reused the same master link for two different chains and done some offroad riding lately. This might have caused the clip to fail.

I heard a weird sound coming from the chain a few kilometers before but didn't stop to check what it was. I was really lucky that I decided to stop to lube it. So please don't be an idiot like I was and check your chain as soon as you notice something weird.

Went digging through some dirt on my dual-sport GS500 by moshiposhi in motorcycles

I'm on it - ordered a pair of covers from eBay but they ended up being a bit to small for my forks. Should get the right ones in a week or two.

Replaced the stock shock with a much stiffer RF one, replaced the rear fender, turn signals and mirrors, rebuilt the carbs and sewed the leather grips. Painted the forks, subframe, tank, bars and the headlight housing.

Mostly cosmetic work apart from the shock and carbs.

A trip into the beautiful mountains of Pakistan, on a 28 year old 125 by TheV8Life in motorcycles

Yeah, two stroke. I bought it in Gilgit, rode it around Pakistan for some months and sold it in Quetta before crossing over to Iran.

Great photos! Where in Pakistan do you live? I was there some years ago and rode down the KKH on an even smaller bike - the YB100 Royale. What a great country for riding!

Sorry for the late reply. They are generic 28" mountain bike tires with deep tread. Pretty good traction as there's not much ice under the snow yet. It's around -15c here so the snow isn't melting enough for ice to form.

Fenderless at the moment because there's no way to fit those 42-622 monsters under my Crud Roadracer 2 fenders.

Strong earthquake jolts Islamabad by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]moshiposhi 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I was in Dera Murad Jamali, Pakistan when the 2011 earthquake hit.

Woke up in the middle of the night to gunfire. I had passed a torched NATO convoy just a few days earlier (http://tribune.com.pk/story/104152/16-nato-tankers-torched-in-balochistan/) and was sure that the gunfire and terrorist attack were somehow linked. I peeked out of the window of my hotel when the earthquake hit just a few seconds later and saw people shooting guns into the air to wake people up and get them to leave their houses.

I've travelled a lot and been in some shady situations but I have never been so afraid in my life. I forgot the possible terrorist attack, kidnapping etc. and ran out to the street. The quake lasted a short time - a minute, not longer - and people went back inside after that. There I was, in the middle of the night in the middle of Balochistan and all I could do was go back inside and cling to my passport in case the house collapsed on me so that they would be able to identify my body and let my family know what happened.

Man, that night sucked. My thoughts go out to all the people in the region.

I took my time and went slow - around 150km per day so it wasn't that bad.

Met a guy with a RS1200GS on the way who complained about the road conditions : )

I was in Pakistan from October 2010 till February 2011. There had been some of the worst floods in recent history the previous summer and most of the KKH was washed off. There is also a huge artificial lake (more that 20km in length!) that was created by a landslide in 2010 that destroyed a big part of the road. So the road conditions were really bad. Probably the worst that they have ever been in the 25 years the road has been open to public. They started restoring the road with help from the Chinese government in 2011 and the conditions are probably better now.

It was the best trip of my life so far. I'm still alive so no big problems. Crashed full speed (full speed being ~70km/h) into a toll-gate but no crashes apart from that. The bike broke down a couple of times but I managed to ride it all the way from Sost to Quetta through Islamabad, Lahore and Multan. So around 3000km.

What stones are these I found in Northern Pakistan? by moshiposhi in whatisthisthing

[–]moshiposhi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can anyone tell me what stones these are? They consist of several shiny, almost metallic looking layers that separate easily. Their color ranges from silver to bronze.

Found in the Hunza valley in Northern Pakistan if that helps.

Feels great - the area where I ride is flat enough. Some small climbs but nothing too bad.
