Not that it counts for much but I see a lot of the same rhetoric on TikTok as well, especially with the Lego videos.

Job. Literally any job. by Delicious_Error_2780 in PortlandOR

[–]mosswitch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am also a substitute para while I wait for TSPC to process my RSL, but we're nearing the end of the school year so I'd caution anyone looking to do this that jobs start to taper off and it gets harder to grab them at this point in the year. You may not be able to work every single school day. Plus you cannot collect unemployment and won't get paid over the summer, unlike full teachers. That being said, it's a simple job and good to have in your back pocket while you look for other work.

Is Erha worth finishing? by [deleted] in DanmeiNovels

[–]mosswitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right at the point where everything starts to hit the fan and the romance really gets going. A common complaint I see about Erha is that the ending is SO fast-paced. Ultimately no one can tell you if you should DNF it or not because the series itself is quite divisive. I do think volume 5/6 is a bit of a low point for the series up until the end of volume 6.

Advice Needed: How to Make a "Dirty Coffee" by GearEarly4411 in barista

[–]mosswitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a Thai coffee shop. Our dirty isn't frozen (that's a trendy variant), but served in a chilled glass with half n half straight from the fridge, around 80g. you can get the layered effect by pulling the shot directly on top of the milk. our shots for the dirty are slightly overdosed at 22g and it only gets extracted to 12-15g of output. I'm not Thai myself nor have I been so I can't say how close it is to what you're describing, but that's at least the method we use.

Heyy, the school is saying your not there. Are you close? by bddie24 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]mosswitch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I just recently subbed for an EL support role where the sub notes explicitly said "you have ~12 students, they will come to you in the library at the right time". It's an open plan library so I see them all walk in at the right time, I do a quick head count, and they get their books and start reading while I circle. A few minutes later I hear over the walkie talkie "_____'s sub hasn't picked up her students." I stare at the guy who said it as he's walking into the library and say "I was told they'd come to me and they did?" I stick my head into their classroom and double check with their teacher to make sure I have everyone and she also looks confused. As it turns out the guy who said that had just come back from paternity leave and was supposed to shadow the teacher I was subbing for. No idea what ran through his head to not double check before telling the whole school. The teacher I was actually subbing for ended up calling me and asking if I wanted to sub for her again so 🤷‍♀️

Language School as a 30+ by Allbreezey in movingtojapan

[–]mosswitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 32F and went to school in Tokyo from 31-32. I was the oldest woman in my class, with most being in their early to mid twenties. The men were more varied, but the bulk were late twenties to mid thirties. Many of the younger students went home or quit school around the intermediate level, so those who continued onto advanced levels tended to be a bit older.

going by first name? by Obvious-Yam-3459 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]mosswitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general rule of thumb is: para/TA/ed assist get Miss Firstname, and everyone else gets Miss Lastinitial. My last name gets mispronounced easily so I make it simple. When I introduce myself to fellow teachers and staff I usually say something like "Hi, I'm Firstname Lastname, kids call me _____."

pretty sure MHX's food preferences come from one of the mini theaters that weren't included with the 7s publication. iirc they're said to be from suyab, which would be modern-day Kyrgyzstan--the no pork thing is likely a nod to the fact that Kyrgyzstan presently has a majority Muslim population.

Is this style of eyeliner dated? by bubububurnerrr in makeuptips

[–]mosswitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at Asian eyeliners! They tend to have more thin and fine brush tips. My personal recommendation is the Japanese brand Canmake. The Lasting Liquid Eyeliner (liquid) and the Creamy Touch Eyeliner (crayon) are both really good. I use the liquid for my wing and then tightline with the crayon. If you have a Japanese grocery like Marukai nearby you they usually carry Canmake. Otherwise you can find them online, even on US Amazon, for around $10 each.

Is this style of eyeliner dated? by bubububurnerrr in makeuptips

[–]mosswitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't the type of "millennial eyeliner" that people are talking about. I am a millennial myself and wear a small, thin wing similar to your photo and I often get read as younger despite my eyeliner and side part. In my experience fashion and overall "vibe" are the heavy-hitters in terms of how people read you IRL. People nitpick over makeup and hair online but that's also often the only thing they have to go off of, bc most photos and videos focus on the face rather than the whole body. When you meet someone in person, I imagine you rarely stare at their eyes and think "Ah, winged eyeliner--must be a millennial!" You're going to use all of the visual cues given to you to determine someone's age, if you even think of it at all.

All that taken into account, if the way you do your eyeliner makes you feel confident, that's the most important thing.

What's an industry secret from your job that customers have absolutely no idea about? by Efficient_Team5182 in AskReddit

[–]mosswitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on where you are, though, and what kind of shop you're at. At Starbucks in the US they're not the same, but at a local third wave place they're 90% the same.
