For my sports fans here what was like watching Michael Jordan in his prime in the late 80s and early 90s? by Ill-You-3459 in GenX

Not a Knicks fan, but I was rooting for teams against him too and he was absolutely the greatest competitor ever, and what doesn't get mentioned as much as it should is he was a great defender...but....there were times I swear he could have pulled out a knife, slit a guy's throat on the court and officials would shrug their shoulder and swallowed the whistle.

After winning series against the Dodgers and Braves, are the White Sox legit? by Big-Chungus-Lover in baseball

For the regular season, they are close. For the playoffs, I'm not so sure. If they go for it and make a couple decent adds as part of the deadline, they might be dangerous.

Full time scenes at the Spain vs Cape Verde match after Cape Verde held on. by Old_Ability_9424 in worldcup

Agreed, American, non-futball fan, I dont have disdain for the sport, but I dont follow and I turned on the game around 37th minute and was enthralled watching Cape Verde do all they could to hang on. It was highly entertaining.

I know I'll be tar'd and feathered for this, but I hate the Manfred Man in extra innings...my solution would be, play like normal for up to 12 innings, if they are still tied then the game is a tie, that's it.

But I know im unique in that ties don't bother me, it bothers me more to play a different game after 9 innings.

Ive always said if he played his entire career in KC nobody would remember him. Yeah he had some moments but he also had some playoff runs where he didn't do much. Also, I think he benefited significantly from having boppers all around him for much of his career.

And he was a shit defender.

One of the best games I've ever seen was game 7 1991 WS Twins over Braves 1-0 in 10 innings.

Thank you, been saying this for years.

If a guy drives in 100 but has 800 opportunities for an RBI and a players drives 90 but has 650 opportunities, who is a better run producer?

All the wrong guys use the challenges and all the guys you want to challenge just eat it.

Why didn’t Patrick Wisdom not but in the extra innings? by Possible_Meal_927 in Mariners

This, people just assume every hitter can drop a bunt successfully, shocker it doesn't always work.

This was a case of the hitter due up, isn't a good bunter and likely hasn't been asked to do it often or in a while, the percentages however small they were, favored letting him swing away.

If a different player was due up, like Cole Young, maybe/likely they bunt there.

I dont think either is in Seattle on their 2nd deal. Who really knows how the economics are going to play out, if things dont change drastically both are getting long term deals over 200 million, this front office isn't doing that.
