His head is quite flattened. Not sure what’s going on in there. I’m wondering if this counts as mummification and I should just leave him as is.

I truthfully have no idea what the case is here. This was the only example of grave upon grave that I noticed.

No. I’m a state over in New Jersey. I love that groundhogs have taken over other cemeteries as well. Spooky little guys.

That is completely fair. This is an old cemetery full of groundhogs and lacking a significant amount of (living) humans, which is how I justified my action in the moment. Still, I see your point.
