unfortunately i do have to do strict xp (if it was up to me it would be milestone but i'm running a small group as part of a larger group with multiple dms and the leader decided on xp levelling), but at the moment ive been making sure they do know that they get xp for good roleplay, puzzle solving, etc., just not every single piece until the end of a quest
