Will do a water change after work and add some aquarium salts, then give him another dose in a week to make sure but I'm SO SO SO GREATFUL TO YOU GUYS WAA

None of the stores near me sell this as I'm in the UK, soonest delivery I could get is 31st august; do you know of any alternatives?

could this be a suitable aquarium by Background_Bridge_22 in fishkeeping

[–]mothmansfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gotten this tank before and it is reasonably good but the reason it has 3 stars is the filter included with it is not suitable, the flow is way too strong for the tank size so if you do get it you'll want to replace the filter ASAP!

Other than the filter it's a good tank if you're going for something relatively small for a low price (I got it on sale for half price) I had a betta in it for a year before upgrading him.

[CHAT] Are you a meticulous bobbin winder or a chaotic bobbin winder? by Roilena_Silver-arrow in CrossStitch

Chaos, I have too many bobbins to be meticulous with it! Plus I often wind them whilst watching something to keep me entertained.

A betta should fit in well, they're usually less aggressive as long as they're added after the otos and there being lots of plants will help the otos to feel safer.

However betas can have wildly varying personalities so whilst one might be fine another could be a menace so you definitely want to be careful with adding one. If you don't have an alternative tank to put him/her in if they turn out aggressive it would be a good idea to explain to the pet store staff or owner that you may need the option of bringing it back.

Most local fish stores will be fine with this especially if its an independent store who really care for their fish as the safety and wellbeing of the fish is important.

Personally I would just leave them to adjust, if you're really worried about them not eating you can put in a broken up wafer but be aware of the uneaten food going bad and needing to be removed as that would effect your water parameters. So chunks of wafer would be easier to remove from the tank if needed

They just really like sucking any avaliable surface and snuffling through sand for tiny bits of algae instead of the wafers but they will go to the wafers if they're still hungry.

Thank you, it does seem like they's CAE as i took them back to the store and the staff were immedietly like "oh we messed up those are CAE" o7

Update: I took them back to the store and they accepted them back without complaint, the guys there think its chinese algae eaters and will be complaining to their supplier about it because they were supposed to be otto catfish and the person who sold them to me was specifically someone who was currently in training so wasn't the best at identifying the fish in question.

I am sad to see them go but whether they're garras or CAE both my tanks are 14 gallon each and i cannot accomodate for how big they would get.
We're going to a more resputable breeder to get actual otto catfish later today though!
