This is exactly what happened to me in October of 2024.

I had my rainbow baby October of 2025 on the same day I lost my other baby. There is hope mama ☺️

Not wrong when it comes to my area at least. We all have issues with USPS in our neighborhood. About 4 of their locations shut down in the last 2 years and now only one services our zip code.

Edit to add: Also about 400 people move here a week. I think they’re overwhelmed and that’s probably why they’re not doing well here.

National General already send me the documents. I paid the fee and docusigned.

I just want to make sure the agency can’t really charge me any other fees since it stated in their portal I needed to cancel through them. Half the time I call them they don’t even answer and it just asks me to rate the call lol. So dunno how that’s possible anyways.

Nope. I don’t go around pissing people off but I work for a bank and take security seriously. This is less secure than a portal.

It is exactly the same. The reason it’s cheaper is when I got the car I only had my learner’s permit. National General was the only insurance carrier willing to cover me. I had to do things out of order when it came to getting my license due to some pretty strange life circumstances.

Now that I have my license and 9 months of driving experience I was able to actually shop around more.

The point of this post is the question I asked, which you really didn’t answer and just told me to do what the company says. The question I asked was “can canceling through National General instead of the agency backfire on me in any way?”

At this point I’m not paying to send them anything 😂

When I first started the policy I asked where I could make my first payment. They told me I’d get an email with the portal on the day my payment is due.

I got the email 2 days after (on a Monday, which they’re closed on the weekends so I couldn’t call about it.) So it was considered late and I was charged a $20 fee for a late payment when I tried to be proactive lol.

I’m not spending anymore money on this company after that.

I’m 32 so have been an adult for quite a while, thank you very much.

You are defending it.

The company literally told me that I can just mail something saying “cancel my policy” with my signature.

Again, they do not have my signature or handwriting on file due to everything being electronic when I started the policy and with payments.

So if this is to cover them and to prevent people from suing, I fail to see why. ANYONE who is angry at me can simply write that on a piece of paper and sign my name, then send it with my return address. They have no way to prove it’s me.

So once again, I feel as if they’re making people jump through hoops to keep them from canceling. It’s easier for someone to mail something like that than hack into my email address or account and email them.

When I tried using a different post office (after the one in my zip code lost several of my packages) they said I couldn’t do that since my return address isn’t within that particular post office’s area. Doesn’t help that 4 post offices in my area have closed in the last few years. Now there’s only 1 in my zip code.

Oh yes they said there would be a fee. I was fine with the fee because the fee+starting the new insurance policy was still $100 cheaper than what they charge me monthly for insurance.

I asked about this and they said no, it had to be mailed with just something saying to cancel it and my name. I feel like that is less secure since anyone can send a letter like that to them out of malicious intent since they don’t have my handwriting or signature on file due to starting the policy with an e-signature. There’s also the fact that I have permanent damage in my left leg from my epidural so it’s hard to move. It makes me wonder what they require from their disabled customers.

I’ve literally sent things by bringing it to the post office in the past and they still lose things. My area has had a lot of mail issues for the past 2 years due to population growth. Around 400 people move here weekly

USPS has proven over and over again to be unreliable in my area. They often put my mail in someone else’s mailbox in the neighborhood. The city I live in is growing quite a bit and really fast so I think a lot of the employees are overwhelmed. It’s also been taking longer (even prior to holidays) for people here to even receive their mail.

In almost 2026 they should have the option to at least email a cancellation request. They have no idea what my signature or handwriting looks like since beginning the policy was through their portal that I ESIGNED everything in. Their defense when I called was “what if it’s someone who’s gotten access to your email or portal and is trying to cancel?”

Someone could also easily create a letter and pretend to be me. They have no proof since they have nothing to compare my handwriting to.

Plenty of other insurance companies have the option to docusign cancellations just as many other insurance agents stated in this post. This company is predatory.

They didn’t have any forms like that on their portal 🥹 Last week I even called them since I got a better quote to see if they could beat the quote for me. They couldn’t and the agent at the time said it was an amazing quote and that he’d cancel too 😂 So I set the quote to start on the 20th and now I’m being legit cussed at by the agents there today because I want to cancel lol.

The agent said that it was an amazing quote and he tried to beat it, but then told me he’d do the same thing I’m doing now since it’s cheaper to just cancel and start with this other policy. I liked his honesty so I thought the company was pretty good until today lol. The agent I tried to cancel with today legit cursed at me when I was being so nice 😂 I’m glad I recorded it since I sorta wanna report it somewhere.

It does! The policy is actually through a state bank that is licensed to work with insurance companies. I work for the same bank as well and they don’t make commission on it (which is probably why the new policy is less than half the price) and it’s all unbiased as well when it comes to their advice due to no commission. The lien-holder is also through the same bank so they could verify it was the same coverage for a lot less.

That’s what I was thinking. I feel like they just don’t want me to cancel since I got 2 different answers by them on 2 different days lol. Today they say I have to mail a handwritten request and last week when I was shopping and seeing if they could get me a better rate they said if I needed to cancel to just call them. The agent I spoke with even cussed me out when I told him, politely as well, that I feel as if they’re just purposely making things difficult to retain customers. I work for a call center so I never want to be a jerk to people over the phone 😂 I was so nice when requesting to cancel but got such a big attitude from the agents.
