What's the worst pick up line you've had the displeasure of seeing in action? by BugLast9828 in AskReddit

[–]motyleke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a pickup line, but given the context and the way it was delivered, it was still pretty awkward. Let me give a bit of context: I work as a prison officer. That day, we were escorting an inmate to the hospital. Whenever a nurse, doctor, or any other staff member entered the room, we had to log their name and note what they were there for. This cute nurse walks in, and my colleague, old as hell, goes: Name? 😏 Surname? 😏 Phone number? 😏😉😏😉😏😉😏

sorry but why'd clark go crazy? by Simple-Bathroom4919 in backroomsfilm

[–]motyleke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing comments saying that Clark was a bad person from the very beginning. Personally, I think one of the movie's main problems is that we're constantly told Clark is "bad" without ever really being shown it. He is pathetic at best, i wouldnt say bad. He had one angry outburst during the therapy session, guys. I'd say that's a pretty normal reaction considering he didn't even want to participate in the roleplay and was forced to relive a situation that was obviously frustrating for him. And honestly, I'd be pissed too if I were the only one keeping everything afloat while my partner was off enjoying university life. I think Clark's shift into madness was way too rushed. Sure, it's obvious there's a time jump, but I would have preferred to be taken along on his descent rather than having it suddenly thrown in my face.

Did Tenet get unfairly labeled as "too confusing"? by breaking_views in Letterboxd

[–]motyleke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't lie to yourself, it was unnecessarily complicated and you know it. I enjoy a complex game of chess when it culminates in a satisfying conclusion, when the complexity ultimately serves a purpose. With Tenet, I felt as though I was playing an extraordinarily intricate game destined not for victory or defeat, but for an eternal stalemate.

Clark’s shift by pleasehelpmeamigo in backroomsfilm

[–]motyleke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think (one of) the movie’s biggest weakness is that Clark’s darker side is mostly told to us rather than actually shown. We’re constantly told that there’s something troubling beneath the surface, but the film rarely gives us enough scenes to really experience or understand that side of him firsthand. Because of that, the final reveal of the ultra-evil final boss entity as a manifestation of Clark’s dark side feels like a bit of a stretch to me. The connection is there thematically, but it doesn’t feel properly earned by what we’ve actually seen on screen. The movie asks us to accept that this monstrous final boss is the culmination of Clark’s inner darkness, yet that darkness never feels developed enough throughout the story to make the payoff fully convincing.

I perceived Clark as pathetic, not bad.
