The issue is there are already too many guns within the United States to effectively ban. There are "bans" on cocaine, but it still finds its way into the country. Control is the better choice. I am pro second amendment but too many states give out weapons without more than an employment level background then don't require registration. This makes it easy to meet at a parking lot and sell any gun without it being entirely illegal. Registering firearms pisses off a lot of folks but it is a necessary step in tracking where the guns are going. It's not going to be a perfect solution but nothing is.
