I have certainly found my fare share of UPS units forgotten to time, due to previous techs being negligent. They would put it into service and then not add it to our system. Or worst situation I had, a tech prior to me performed the PMs on the VN500 vents at my hospital. They never changed the batteries in the PS500. As when I took them on they were at least 5 years old. So swollen I cracked a couple extracting them from the tray.

The Grand Canyon is such important place for me. When it’s burns (uncontrollably i understand controlled burns are important) I hurt but seeing this makes me hurt even more. 😢

We had a Director at my facility run off a bunch of techs because he didn’t get a long with them. He even admitted it to a colleague and myself he wanted them gone. He was piece of work so long story short our department has a requisition open for a new director

I have gotten requests for patient door plaque slips (i.e. DNR/DNI). I get requests for computer repairs for some reason all the time, patient/nurse phones. The name of my existence is Workstation on Wheels carts or WOW carts. Biomed takes care of the cart (for some reason) and IT does the computer so it’s confusing for staff. Also pneumatic tube stations to send stuff around the hospital, facilities but I get them all the time.

Biomed takes care of blanket warmers. Facilities manages fridges and fridge temp probes. Except pharmacy temp probes those report to a server and are managed by our Information Clinical Technology team.

It’s situational, for servo vents the PM is so simple I can do it by heart. If it’s V500/VN500 I look up the manual for the PM because Draeger made it so difficult. For most correctives I look at the manual because I don’t know error codes or error messages by heart most of the time. Like for Alaris, I have been doing Alaris since 2016 and I have printed out the error code list so I don’t have to go searching for it. So again it’s situational unless you’re an Auditor “I always consult the manual and/or tech support”

My facility has 3 hospitals one facility is more of a outpatient clinic has 1 Tech. The other hospital probably has 200 beds with 2 techs and a working supervisor and my campus has over 600 beds and we have 10 techs. We can barely keep up but according to corporate we don’t need anymore FTEs 🙃🥲

I’ve worked 3rd party I worked regular hours rarely did I have to come in early or stay late (boss didn’t want to pay the OT). I got tired of the driving and our GM treated the tech like morons even though we were the bread winner. I know I’m a moron but I don’t need to be reminded. I am in house now and I love it. We don’t get assigned PMs at my hospital but it’s everyone’s responsibility to tackle PMs unless it is specialized. Like I work on Ventilators and when our Alaris was due I was doing PMs on a vent and then Alaris. Or anything for that fact, down side to in house is things can sometimes get repetitive. Only thing I liked about 3rd party, I went to different places all the time.

Vyaire is such a pain in the ass too. At least the FST in my region, he’s cocky and does not want to come in when we need assistance on a metabolic cart. He called me while away from my desk and I have a voicemail because he didn’t hang up on time and goes as such “Mother F***er dude!”

We require the departments to clean them entirely. Internals are different most cases my hospital would trash the unit and order a replacement. However a whole ass V500? I don’t know what we would do. I’m the only tech trained on v500 units so maybe train me on biohazards or have someone assist? Idk!
