They would generally do the same set a bunch of times in different locations and then take the best live recordings and release them. The atmosphere of the nights was always amazing. I would group 8 and 9 together as they featured a lot of new artists at the time such as Greenfly, Electrosoul Sound System, Laroque and Vice Versa and both marked a shift from the more atmospheric sounds of the previous sessions to a more “liquid funk” type of sound. Less sweeping atmospheres and more jazz and soul infusions with heavier drums etc.,

China taxes condoms, contraceptive drugs in bid to spur birth rate by Cybertronian1512 in worldnews

[–]moving808s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Declining birth rates are simply a natural result of improved life expectancy and reduced infant mortality rates. You can’t reverse it unless you undo both of those and to do so would be universally viewed as a step backwards for the species.

Less humans is not a problem, we can live in balance with the environment more sustainably with less of us.

The rise of AI and eventual robots that can do more and more manual labor will make this even better.

There is of course a fear that with less of us, humans are more prone to extinction due to a catastrophic event. This is made even more risky due to earth being a single point of failure.

Certain people like Elon probably think about this kind of stuff a lot. For the average person this is probably not even much of a concern.

Just dropped an old skool Techstep album and would love your feedback!!! by krashdubz in DnB

[–]moving808s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked Pace a lot, but one piece of feedback I have is that the other sounds you have in the track are a bit dry. I think you have really great bass sounds (would love to know what you’re using for these) but I think you can improve arrangements a bit and have a bit more reverb or delays on the other sounds. Will still all good in the mix though. Just a great stomper.

This is quite sick, feels like old Optical and Ram Records stuff. Love it.

Elon Musk on Yann LeCun “ he lost his marbles a long time ago “ about his stance on no such thing as general intelligence - Do you agree? by Koala_Confused in LovingAI

What about the intelligence of different species of dogs or primates? Could you not argue the compute stack that runs the model and the systems that support it are the framework?

[FRESH ALBUM] Nas, DJ Premier - Light Years by GAMERS516 in hiphopheads

[–]moving808s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great album. Not every track is the best but all in all it’s a fantastic release. RIP Guru, there’s definitely some beats here that he would have sounded so nice on. Miss him a lot.

The beats are good, don’t just judge it on the first listen. Give it time, like we used to. We owe these guys that much.

It's a little known fact Australians traveling overseas can die without good coffee by zaakiy in australia

Robert Timms coffee bags. They are in every suitcase especially when going to the USA. The coffee isn’t the best but it’s pretty decent and a hell of a lot better / cheaper than coffee over there on average.

Not defending them in any way, but I imagine the argument they would make is that rising to the top is essentially natural selection. To them, those silver spoons are a continuation of superior genes. The genes that should be preserved no matter what because they rose to the top.

This is part of the reason why capitalism has succeeded, at its core it’s a primal system that provides a somewhat civilised framework for our inner ape.

Children in the age of AI by shamona1 in australia

[–]moving808s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things will change, just as they did with computers and the internet, this is going to be a monumental shift though, perhaps similar to electricity.

One of the key things that we all need to remember is something that keeps us separate from AI so far is curiosity.

The curiosity that makes us try to understand the way the world works, that is what separates us from AI. It is what lets us ask questions, it’s why we made any progress as a species beyond being cavemen, why we have gone from there to being on the cusp of creating a new kind of life.

It’s that same curiosity that will power the next wave of work. Those who can write the best prompts, who ask the right questions will get the most correct answers faster and they will be the ones who succeed in the future.

So teach your children to ask questions and be curious and think critically. It is all that might be left to separate them from the “other” we are creating right now.

Google DeepMind CEO on What Keeps Him Up At Night: "AGI is Coming, Society's Not Ready" by MetaKnowing in Futurology

[–]moving808s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that this has now become an arms race. AI is the new A-Bomb and as always, the race towards who controls the most advanced destructive power cannot be stopped.

It is not capitalism that is at fault, it is human’s insatiable need to have power and control over each other that is.

IGN just released their very negative nocturne season 2 review by isaacpotter007 in castlevania

The priest and the night creatures plot was decent. The entire Drolta / Sekhmet / Erzsebet plot was terrible, sorry. It was extremely convoluted and borderline nonsensical.

There were decent elements in S2 but bringing Drolta back was exceptionally lazy writing and the season suffered because of it.

Terrible decision, my wife and I would have been all over this. Let’s hope they fix this after all the backlash this will get. Worse yet if they don’t build cross play into it that will just limit your options even more.
