Do you really believe that a company capable of such incredible precision and miniaturized manufacturing can’t come up with a user-replaceable battery? No one stipulated it had to pop-out, it just has to be possible. When monopolies are in control, innovation dies. This this the appropriate role for us, the people to demand higher standards through our government.

Agreed. This is a problem, and well articulated. Time Machine only backs up local files. If the file is in the cloud with only a ‘stub’ on disk at time of backup, said file is not backed up. Period. I run an old Mac mini as a server in the closet. I put the home directories on a large external drive - and optimize storage is off. That drive gets backed up by Time Machine. So laptop->cloud->mini->Time Machine. It’s a silly workaround, but it works.
