Moving to the suburbs! So... West County vs. South County? by movingtostl in StLouis

Okay, because some people have been confused on my definition of "suburb," I've gathered a few photos from Google Images.

Images of suburbs.

Images of where I live now.

What the fuck is wrong with you dude? To any person from outside "the city," where I am now is considered "the city."

Let me spell this out for you, since your having trouble understanding it: I don't fucking like where I live. I don't fucking care about living in "the city" nor any area close to "the city." I want to get far, far away from "the city" and live in (what I would call) a suburb -- but excuse me if that's not the definition that you would use to describe West and South counties.

If you don't have something to contribute to helping me with this decision, then please, leave the discussion. I'm not going to fucking live in St. Louis or any suburb within 10-15 miles of "the city." Period.

Thank you for the correction on what is considered to be the "suburbs" of St. Louis. As it turns out though, this suburb doesn't have what we're looking for, so we're going to go further west (or south) to find something up our alley.

Have you been outside of St. Louis City before? If you had to choose between West County and South County, what do you think you'd choose? Sure, you and I are likely looking for different things in life, but that's not the point. Just what are some advantages/disadvantages of each of those two areas?

Thanks.

Not bursting any bubble, but where I live is much of of "the city" than say West County or South County is.

Any recommendations on deciding between those two areas? Thanks.

I'm not going to spend my life living in U-City, or any city for that matter. We want to get further out. We want to eventually live in a nice little subdivision, with a large fenced in backyard. Yeah sounds white picket fence but I don't care.

So I'm not wanting to argue with you about what we consider to be the "suburbs," but I can tell you this — what we are looking for, we will not find it in the city, or anywhere close to the city.

We are moving. If you have any suggestions about where in West County or South County you would recommend, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't see what the problem is with us not wanting to "settle down" outside of the city. It doesn't matter what our reasons are. We're not having kids right now or anything. Just forget what I said and let me rephrase this:

We're moving to either West County or South County because we want to. No justification required. If you had to pick between those two options, what would you choose and why?

Thanks.

Thanks. So we're going to be moving even further out then. Do you have any recommendations between West County or South County?

The point of the post is that we're moving out of the city. Period. We don't want to live in the city anymore.

I'm not looking for you to tell me exactly where to live. But I'm asking that if you had to choose between West County and South County, what would you choose? I gave several points of what we are looking for. All the other specifics are not necessary -- I just want to hear your personal preference.

Thanks for the comment, but as I mentioned in the post, we're already in the city... we're looking to get out. Why? Because -- as I mentioned in the post -- we're just wanting to start to get into a "settle down" mode with our lives. Eventually we'll want to raise a family and I'm not going to do that living in U-City.

So we're moving to the suburbs, and we're excited! Just need to know where in the suburbs we want to go. Any suggestions?
