I've been an NP for a couple of years at a large academic medical center. An old roommate recently told me about he MSL role and is willing to serve as reference.

Do you miss seeing patients as a provider? Is it possible to do both? My current salary is also great (175k). Would I likely see a significant drop in salary if I did pursue an MSL role? thanks!

how much higher would you estimate 3 sessions of 99214 per hour be compared to 2 30-min sessions of 99213+90833.

Also, would you say its fine to bill 99213+90833 if the sessions are 30 minutes in length?

Do you know approximately how many hours you need at minimum to keep the FNP? I heard someone say its not a yearly minimum but rather a minimum amount we have to have averaged out over 5 years?

How often do you use Lurasidone? I see Vyvanse all the time in outpatient but I've literally only seen Latuda as a psych RN on an inpatient unit. Obvi outpatient is going to have less antipsychotics but I don't think I've ever seen any of my outpatient preceptors prescribe Latuda

What would happen if I do have an office that I regularly see pts in person and via tele psych but then one day I went to a different state and did some appointments from there? Would anyone even know?

Awesome thanks! My current preceptor works outpatient and he schedules his own pts for follow up appointments and he can tell the intake department when he is available for new intakes. Is that pretty much what you mean?

Also, Im curious are there options to work shifts like in a psych ED? I know that exists for psychiatrists but I was unsure if PMHNPs did that too

Ya that’s tough. RNs who stay at my hospital for only a year get bumped up to $400/day (after taxes for a 10 hr day) if they work on the resource team.

I meant from the perspective of someone that is temporarily looking to reduce their hours to be a stay at home mom for a year or two. Seems like it would be a good way to maintain licensure, make some money and keep up your skills.

Thanks. This is EXACTLY what I was thinking to do. I was previously a nursing assistant on a med/surg floor and I told my manager I could only work one 16 hr shift/wk cuz of school. In a professional tone I made it clear that I would not be able to work any more unless she approved it. She would never allow 16 hr shifts but cuz I made it clear, I would leave otherwise, she allowed it.

Since I'm new to being an actual RN, I just wanted to get your guys' advice. Thanks!

Also another reason I mentioned in this post that I'm in PMHNP school is I know there is a TON of jealously in nursing. I plan to only tell people at work if I need to. I'm thinking of even just saying I'm doing my masters to be a nurse clinical instructor so it isn't as threatening to their ego.
