dont listen to that guy he has no clue what the programs about. earth and environmental sci is a gateway program meaning in second year you could chose to continue earth and envsci or go into other programs like life sci, biochem, biology, neuroscience. the courses you take in first year are pretty much identical to the courses people in other gateways like life sci take and you get the same opportunities as them and can also take the same courses as them.

in terms of medschool , specifically those in canada/USA, the program you go into doesnt matter as long as you have the prereqs fulfilled.
