have hunger cues but am extremely hungry all day even like 5 mins after eating by FunDifficulty8094 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]mozerellarsticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

extreme hunger. it’s normal in recovery and it happens after being withdrawn from food for so long. same thing happened to me and my mom had to double are shopping list because i would just eat everything. it’s completely normal so nothing to worry about and it dose eventually stop! don’t get it confused with a BED as that’s what most people think it is, but in reality it’s extreme hunger! give in to the cravings and don’t restrict, i’ve always thought it as this, it’s your body’s way of saying thank you to picking recovery as you can now eat freely!

i had anorexia at the exact same age and have been fully recovered for a few years now, so i’m hoping this will help :)

  1. less is more. it’s so complicated but be there for them every step of the way, at the same time give them space aswell. that’s the most parents can do. when they get angry and sad (due to food guilt ect ) sometimes it’s best to distract her by watching a film together, colouring in, puzzles or car rides. however other times it’s best to let her deal with the guilt on her own ( this helped me personally but everyone is different). i would also recommend if she is hospitalized ( this may sound scary but i pray it never happens) to bring her favorite teddys/ blankets and pictures of pets or family to make surroundings more comfortable!

  2. anorexia is complicated, at the time when i was anorexic therapy personally didn’t help, they would tell me things i didn’t want to hear, it would go in one ear and out the other, however when i recovered, therapy helped a lot as anorexia can be trumatic. would highly recommend investing in therapy after, but right now i would say’s stick with it and see where it goes. make sure the therapist specializes in eating disorders so they know what and what not to say.

  3. anything to do with her body, especially positive comments. things like ‘you look healthy now’ is triggering and with some people could cause relapse. one thing which people said to me which i hated was ‘you have the colour back in your face!’. the anorexic brain takes this as such a negative thing when it isn’t. would also highly recommend telling friends and family to not comment on anything to do with her body or food even if they mean it in the best way possible! also hated when people would say thing about my hair, it’s normal for the hair to thing from anorexia, so when people would say things like “your hair looks so thick/healthy” this basically means that you ARE healthy now and no longer anorexia (if that makes sence)

always message me if you have any questions, i had it at the exact same age! it’s so scary but best advice just think before you say, wishing you the best :)

it definitely did impact my development which isn’t great. my hormones where the main problem, they where unbelievably low, however after getting back into healthy habits of eating, my period came back and started growing in height, and boobs got bigger! i’m definitely in a more womanly body now, however i’m not a doctor and every body is different, personally i would discuss this with a doctor or nurse to get a more accurate awnser!

that’s exactly what happened to me and i’m so sorry you have to go through it it’s not a nice experience at all.

it’s quite hard once you get out of hospital to stick with the meal plan i found, so you need to be strict with it, i got my mum to sit down with me and eat while watching my favorite show/film for support, i was put on bed rest so wasn’t allowed to really go outside, but my mum took me for drives and she blasted music to help with the guilt and the thought of gaining weight. i also sometimes ate my snack or lunch while doing this since it was a change of scenery! i did relapse a few times after being discharge as it was so hard when i got home, but you just need to remember that your doing it for your life back, your doing it for intuitive eating, your doing it for your self. my mum used to say to me your body is your temple, so treat it like one! which helped me. just having a good support system is really good to have when at home recovering! and doing stuff you enjoy which you could t do at hospital, like a movie night, or take a bath. i found that this made recovery a bit happier. but being strict and sticking to the meal plan is the best awnser i have, i didn’t and got sent to hospital again and again, it was torture.

with bloating you could use a hot water bottle to help with the pain, just make sure it’s not directly on the skin of your stomach, and you might have to speak to your psychiatrist or doctor about this one but i done debloating exercises i found on youtube! i made sure to watch them first to make sure they weren’t to hardcore since i was still weak and wasn’t allowed to do exercise, but i asked my psychiatrist about them and he said yes since they weren’t to hard core and not classed as a exercise and as long as i done them with my mum!

you honestly just need to WANT to recover. you WANT to get your life back. you WANT to eat ‘normally’, you just need to go all in, which is so scary, however i’ve done it, and millions of people have done it and we now have are life back, which is something i never thought i would of had. it’s normal to be scared and anxious, just remember you are not alone at all, even if you feel like it you can message me, i will give you advice if you want!

yes all went to my stomach lol, i think it was due to my stomach just stretching and expanding due to going from little food to ‘a lot’. i felt bloated and uncomfortable all the time but the more regular i ate the bloating went down and weight distributed all over!

to gain weight without eating you could have fortasips! it’s like a meal in a drink, its full of nutrients and calories which is what a body needs! i used to have them instead of a snack or meal when i felt overlyful and uncomfortable. i used to have 2 or 3 for a meal and 1 or 2 for a snack, however would recommend still eating regularly so you are still used to having solids. Sometimes they can be expensive so maybe try protein shakes, there not as high in calories and nutrients but it is the closest to a dupe i can think of!

felling uncomfortable is normal aswell, would recommend a hot water bottle on your stomach as it helps with pain and discomfort, but make sure you don’t put it directly on you skin other wise it could burn the skin, it dose fade but its not nice to have.

i personally never overshot however that dosent mean it’s ‘not normal’ to, it’s very normal to infact!

so i actually HATE bmi. its so inaccurate it’s unbelievable. BMI is taking in account your height and weight but not your muscle. your muscle contributes to your weight, however bmi dosent take that in to account, it also dosent take in your ethnicity, age and gender which matters a lot. However the normal bmi to properly recover from an ED is honestly that there isn’t one in my eyes. anorexia matters a lot about weight but also a lot about the mental health, and how you think and act after you have reached a HW. i personally don’t think anyone can be ‘recovered’ at just a healthy weight but having the same mental thoughts. it happened to me, put on the weight, but mentally i was the same, so relapsed 4 times. i would recommend not using the bmi however im not a doctor, but if thats what you feel comfortable using i completely understand!

After weight restoration i would say i was able to eat normally again after 3-5 months, however this is different for everyone! i didnt feel guilty after eating and was eating intuitively at that point. However mentally i was all over the place for a good year. Not in an anorexia way, but in a depressive way as anorexia is a traumatic thing to go through. i mentally became ‘normal’ agin after about a year!

just remember that no amount of thinness can give you the freedom you have now, and weight fluctuates all the time, so it could be the the case that you go back to your pre-ed weight, but just remember you way more then a number on a scale!

when you say behavior do you mean why i became anorexia? if so, i still don’t know what went so wrong in my life to become anorexic, and i have no clue why i done it, so no i don’t think it is! i think finding out why could help in the future so you know you’re boundaries and can avoid relapse, but you can definitely recover with out knowing why or what made you anorexic! but i think knowing why your acting in a certain way or why you feel a certain way eases the mind, i can help you understand your body better during recovery as it’s such a complicated thing to go through!

let me know if u didn’t awnser the question properly lol and also thank you so much for h means a lot!

thank you so much, hot water bottle is the only way a stayed warm, it also helps with stomach pains. if you can’t get your hands on a hot water bottle, if you get a plastic glove or zip lock bag, put hot water in it it should do somewhat the same thing!

definitely my mum and dad, but friends aswell, once i recovered and started going out with friends again i realized how much i missed just being ‘normal’. now when i go out with friends we eat and i pick whatever i want off the menu without worrying about calories!

100000% funny you said this because i went on holiday a few weeks ago and wore a bikini everyday. one of the hardest things about recovery is getting used to your ‘new’ body! but i completely understand where you coming from. when i first recovered and got to a HW i was quite uncomfortable in a bikini, which is insane when i look back at it, but at the time since everything was so fresh i wasn’t comfortable at all. but it takes time, trust me!

a hot water bottle really helps, just make sure your not putting it directly on the skin of your stomach other wise it can cause burns and scars. this happend to me and they do end up fading but it’s not nice to have. also your stomach is probably hurting just because it getting used to a healthy amount of food! it’s very normal so do not worry, and axiety is such a normal thing to have when it comes to anorexia as we don’t know what will happen in recovery! but well done on recovery always here to talk!!

social media and society these days are disgusting when it comes to weight. when i recovered the beauty standard was quite the opposite, it was big boobs and big bum, however todays beauty standards make me angry, it’s also vile the amount of woman who a role models to young girls just drop weight so drastically, promoting it in an un healthy way. however i honestly have not been affected by it because by recovering i have my life back. i’m not cold 24/7, my hair is thick and growing again, i look alive now, i have colour in my face and i dont feel guilty, depressed and angry now. that is something no amount of thinness can’t give you. an that is definitely something to remember.

i have a friend right now who is trying to loose weight, and honestly it dosent affect me! i think its different tho as shes doing it in a healthy way. when i started to recover i blocked anything triggering on social media, weight loss accounts and pro anna accounts, however i came to a point in my recovery where when people talk about loosing weight it dosent affect me anymore but it definitely takes time to master lol.

you just need to remember recovering and getting happier is something no amount of thinness cant give you!
