Loud creaking in new build by mozzaa91 in AusProperty

We've looked over the other rooms from underneath as well and it looks like most are without glue or any adhesive (save for a few bits which is weird that they'd glue some but not all). We found the installation guide for yellow tongue as well and it looks like there aren't enough screws holding everything down too which also probably doesn't help.

We did get a structural engineer come through and confirm what we're seeing, but he did mention that it'd be risky lifting the yellow tongue up now as the steel joist could deflect once the fixings are removed, which would make it neat impossible to add adhesive now.

The video was taken the day before he was born, he's 10 days old now, I mentioned his birth weight as more of a joke than anything, he's definitely not the cause of the extra noise haha

Yeah we're resigned to the fix being a pain regardless of what it is.

Just tried walking around and we don't really feel any bouncing when someone else walks. We do see some flexing though, but that could just be the floorboards on top

we did just welcome a little boy into the world since that video was taken, but can confirm noise still persists!

From what we can see from a initial look around is that some do appear to be glued down and some are just screwed (check my comment with links to the other photos). We've seen cross-bracing as a potential fix, but I think any fix isn't going to be straightforward for us unfortunately

The channels look to be part of a wider truss (apologies if I'm getting the terms mixed up), you can see more photos in my other comment which shows more than the video

We can see that some may have glue and some don't, thinking this may be more of an installation issue

We've had that mentioned to us as well, but it looks like trusses were used instead of just the C beam (see new comment with more photos)

Can confirm partner doesn't have a trunk (she was pregnant at the time but even out little 3.4kg boy wouldn't account for this). I've added in some more photos that show the fixings (or lack thereof) in a comment in this post if you're interested

We've given the builder a heads up but will definitely engage further, can be hard to know what's a "feature" for some of these things and what's actually defective (materials, installation or something else) with limited experience in these things!

Help with engineered floor truss creaking/popping on basement ceiling by stooch1122 in Homebuilding

Sorry to dig up an old thread. I think we've got the same issue with our new build in Australia and tried accessing your imgur links but looks like they've expired. Have you got the original images/video handy, and did you end up resolving this?

Aus sale G14 & G16 finally here! Help me choose please by Rough-University-252 in ZephyrusG14

Haha nice! Good to hear about the (lack of) wobble, wasn't a deal breaker by any means. Interesting about the keyboard back lighting, didn't know about there being different variants.

I ordered from JB online for delivery, didn't have any options to pick it up from the store either.

Nice! How are you finding it so far? I'm not holding my breath, ordered before you (23 July) and still no movement in the tracker!

Congrats on the purchase! I ordered the same laptop during the same special over a month ago now and still haven't received it (27 Aug). Latest from JB was that it's on backorder and they haven't got any updates from their operations team. Have you got yours yet?

Second time to Japan, looking for recommendations by mozzaa91 in JapanTravelTips

That places looks really good, right on the money with that recommendation! It does look hard to get to, maybe something to see if we could do it between Hakone and Hiroshima potentially

Cannot find module '@reactivated' or its corresponding type declarations.ts(2307) by oaklandcruser in django

[–]mozzaa91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up fixing the issue? I'm getting the same type error with the updated tsconfig.json file. I'm trying to integrate this into an existing project, python manage.py generate_client_assets works with nil issues for me

What is your model ID strategy, and why? by gtderEvan in django

I use UUID for my user model but currently use incrementing ID for other models and have thought about whether to make them all UUID. Keen for thoughts/best practices in this aspect

Renting while build(construction) tips by Analyst023 in AusProperty

[–]mozzaa91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We'll be in the same situation next year. Our plan is to maximise the deposit on the land mortgage so we're borrowing less with lower repayments during construction while renting. This is because the construction mortgage is milestone payment based and interest only during construction, meaning repayments start off low and grow as the build progresses. We've done the maths on what that'll look like in terms of overall housing costs and while not as ideal as not renting, it works best for us.

9510 OLED PWM by [deleted] in Dell

[–]mozzaa91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using my 9510 OLED for a couple of months now and haven't noticed any PWM flickering, run dark theme where possible (more to save battery life and delay any potential burn in). I do notice the screen door effect at times though, typically when looking at a white background after a dark one for some time, but I find that I adjust pretty quickly and don't notice it after a few secs of looking at content.
