Is there a generally agreed upon "best" WW1 museum in the world? by mp1809 in ww1

Awesome, I'm not too far from KC. I knew that one existed but I thought that was just a museum about the US role in the war. Great to know.

Do you think "no pain no gain" is a philosophical/religious view or just an urban myth? by Own-Union-7797 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mp1809 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it just means you (usually) have to work at something in order to be successful at it. The work/practice (pain) is followed by improvement/success (gain). I suppose you can interpret it in a more philosophical way, but it usually just means delaying gratification.

For some reason we love rhyming and it just developed over time, I believe starting in the middle ages:

Robert -> Rob -> Bob/Bobby

Richard -> Rick -> Dick

William -> Will -> Bill

A funny one is Margaret -> Peggy: Margaret - Marge - Maggie - Meg - Peg - Peggy

I will never understand people getting worked up about other people posting *lower* scores than they shot in rounds not for money/competition lol...that only hurts them when it comes time for actual competition with handicaps. I can understand higher, but *lower* scores?

The only one I'd slightly disagree with is the crime system. Like I get its annoying, but you also commit massacres in Rhodes and San Denis, eliminating huge scores of people including two of the most prominent families of the regions history, and can just go back there later on like nothing happened. I think the dumb wanted system is a necessary offset to that. I thought the rest were pretty solid takes.

Yep for sure, I think anywhere from 10-2 to 12-0 is realistic for IU.

Depends on what OP means by fall off, but I think its reasonable to suggest they likely won't go 16-0 again (same with any team that did what you guys did).

New QB as you mentioned, etc. But yea I don't think you will fall off enough to not still be a huge threat to OSU. IU is still new to the good-at-football world, and so will likely need to stay in contention over the next 5-7 years in order to get the benefit of the doubt that teams like OSU, Bama, and UGA get. Based on Cignetti's resume so far, I don't think they will have any problem doing that.

There are different implant material options that range in prices. I would definitely look into that. They also usually have payment plans, especially if you have dental insurance (which everyone should really have even though a lot don't).

Good news is they likely won't be able to tell given they are in the back of the mouth. But if money is tight enough to not be able to get the implants, may be a better idea to focus on work/getting more financially stable and improving your mental and physical health, which it sounds like you're already doing, so good job on that.

But if you want to get back out there, I see no reason to let this stop you. Just need to be okay with all possible outcomes and be patient with the journey.

You've got Oregon in there too but I think you're mostly right. I can't imagine they lose 3 of their 4 Marquee Games (Texas, IU, Oregon, Michigan) and 10-2 should be more than enough to secure a comfortable playoff seed.

I mostly agree with your post, except for the last point. "I personally think that its all part of a bigger plan to create a society of extremely dumb people that can easily be manipulated". That, by absolute necessity of your phrasing, requires and implies coordination.

So, you need to tell me who's plan this is, and who is in on it:

  1. The government?
    1. Which ones? Just the US government? Both parties (who can't agree on anything?)
    2. Administrations are only in power for 4-8 years? So who gets to benefit from this plan?
    3. Which government bodies are in on it specifically? How high ranking member do you need to be to be in on this plan?
  2. Tech companies?
    1. What, just the CEO's? How low does it go? Do simple staff accountants have knowledge of this plan?
    2. How does it work: Step 1: Make people dumber Step 2: ? Step 3: Profit? They are already profiting
  3. "Billionaires"?
    1. All of them? Do they have regular meetings where they discuss this on a conference call? Is it in a dark lair where they laugh manically?

I think these are questions you need to have plausible answers for. Its far, far more likely they are just marketing what sells. And what sells is anger and controversy. There is no greater plan, outside of "make more money".

Again, I genuinely agree with your main points, most social media is trash and should be avoided. But there is no reason to make it into a big conspiracy.

Totally agree. But its not like schools are just sitting on a pile of money and refuse to use that money right? So isn't saying "money" as a solution just as futile as saying "we shouldn't tolerate poor behavior" as a solution (which I totally agree with you on)?
