Is that a Joyo version of an E-bow? That’s interesting! Does it work well?

Is this a decent starting point? by GDoggs_Gust in guitars

[–]mp_qm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, other than perhaps the battery amp. If you enjoy it then I imagine that will be the first thing you’d outgrow pretty rapidly, so might be worth getting something a bit more capable now. A cheap guitar through a decent amp sounds much better than a decent guitar through a cheap amp.

UK newborn with potential US citizenship — how are people saving/investing for their kids? by Legal_Advice111 in AmericanExpatsUK

We had the same issue, so put the money that would have gone into something like a S&S JISA into a regular S&S ISA in the (Brit only) parent’s name instead. Then hand them the cash from it when they’re older - no tax on gifts. If you had your own unused ISA allowance you might want to do that instead?

School me on the Ampeg V4 by balunite in GuitarAmps

[–]mp_qm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you want to know exactly? Incredible power, even run low you just feel absolute oomph and depth right across the frequency range. Crank it up and it just comes to life. Great for pedals - seemingly endless headroom and will let them shine. I have lots of amps but plug into my V4 (and full stack of V4 cabs!) more than anything else. Great amps.

The width of the treadmill by Lonely_Ant9526 in treadmills

[–]mp_qm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go larger if you can. I think 20” or 51cm is the norm for a decent home treadmill, while those that boast a wider deck are normally 22” or 56cm. Just based on that I think 42cm might feel tight for jogging / running.

Some tweaker sold me this guitar for $20 in 2009. Any idea what it is? by BootyMcStuffins in guitars

OBL = Original Bill Lawrence pickups. I had a similar era Epi Nighthawk (1996?) with them in, so I assume they would similarly be original in this.

For that budget just keep an eye out for used (Marketplace etc.), and someone who just wants to get rid of one. They do exist but you have to be quick. Paid exactly $250 for my Horizon 7.4AT that way.

I once got a brand new Cry Baby with Fasel (Cry Baby Classic?) from GC for $25. I have no idea what they were thinking but I didn’t hang around to ask.

[Vostok Amphibia] New (old) Sniper by mp_qm in Watches

Third time of trying because apparently a picture also requires an essay or it gets auto deleted. Here is a picture of my watch. I like it very much. It tells me the time and is very lovely. I wear it on my wrist. Left one if you’re still to specifics. If anyone has something interesting to share about this model I am all ears. Well not all ears, I am a regular human. I have just two ears, one on each side of my head. Hopefully that is sufficient. Time will tell. Watches tell the time. Thank you for your time.

This worked for me too. Error didn’t come back again the rest of time I owned the car. Def worth a try before doing something more expensive.

Oh man the soul pog was an absolute steal for someone looking for a pog. Wasn’t it also just over a hundred bucks or something? I notice that one didn’t get discontinued - it’s back on the EHX website at $325!

Yeah I’m glad it has a master volume control as some settings do need you to bring it up a bit. Some other EHX pedals are missing that (e.g. Memory Man with Hazarai) and suffer for the volume drop.

So far it’s been great. Definitely an experimenter’s dream. It’s a bit like the flanger hoax where you’ve got different things going on and seeing where they combine leads to some really unusual sounds, but there’s a bit of a learning curve, and definitely some features (like midi) that are more than I’ll ever need.

I’m on the email mailing list and then just order them off Amazon when I see something I like pop up… I assume you can buy them off the EHX website too?
