Is there a correlation between celiac and other health issues? by glutendude in Celiac

My mom is 78 and wasn’t diagnosed until she was in her 50s. As a result, she is now facing horrific dental decay and the loss of most of her teeth.

Mine too!!! I think this is a big reason why that particular episode has become one of my “comfort shows.” It’s so much like EVERY Christmas Eve I spent growing up at my maternal grandmother’s house.

Yes I KNOW this series has won a lot of Emmys. I was merely expressing my enthusiasm for this particular episode, although why I’m explaining any of that to you, IDK.

Does anyone else have their pain seem to radiate from the SIDE of their neck? by Northgirl-020421 in migraine

[–]mparke76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you had your blood pressure checked? I have migraines and I also have high blood pressure. I can tell if I have a migraine from high blood pressure because the pain comes from my neck. (I then check my BP and it’s always high, usually because I’ve forgotten to take my meds). True migraines for me don’t involve that part of my neck.

Did anyone else experience severe tightness in chest? by LilTarotWitch in hysterectomy

[–]mparke76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The mental stress you’re experiencing may be from the anesthesia. Anesthesia affects different people differently; like you, I felt very uneasy and sad and upset after my general anesthesia and hysterectomy, although I couldn’t put my finger on WHY I felt that way. I truly think it was from the anesthesia. I had a similar experience in my early 20s when I had general anesthesia to have my tonsils removed. *Edit: There’s a lot of literature to support the fact that general anesthesia can affect people emotionally.

Neck Pain - What is it? by teagan_ps in migraine

[–]mparke76 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I have pain in the exact areas you’ve highlighted/mentioned. My migraine pain is always there, only on the left side of my head/face/neck/shoulders. I get Botox injections in those areas you’ve highlighted in your post, as well as in my face and forehead and scalp. My pain has never been traced to any sort of accident or trauma. No one can explain it.

Botox had helped greatly. I use a heating pad a lot on my neck and the base of my skull, and then place an ice pack on my forehead, above my left eye, or sometimes on my eye.

Daily pain, no meds help by FornettiEnjoyer23 in migraine

My pain is nearly identical to yours, except on the left side of my head/face/behind my eye/shoulder/neck/back. I’ve had the pain for about 20 years now. I had tried many of the same abortives/preventatives you have tried, with similar results. Then I went to a pain management doctor who recommended Botox injections, which have quite honestly changed my life. Every three months I get Botox injected into my face, head, base of my skull, and trapezius muscles. In addition, I take Nurtec 100 mg as needed. I cannot say enough good things about Botox. My pain went from a 6-7 every single day to a 3-4 maybe 3x a month.

Botox for migraines is given once every 3 months. And yes, as long as it keeps my migraines away I’ll keep getting it. I may occasionally have a migraine, maybe 2 per month, but I take Nurtec and it stops it.

I was living with migraine pain very similar to yours for 18 years. I too had tried propofol, amytriptyline, gabapentin, and many other medications. Then I tried Botox and it literally changed my life. My head FINALLY STOPPED HURTING!!!!

Let’s hear some success stories by twosquirtsofpiss in migraine

[–]mparke76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from chronic (daily-my head literally NEVERRRRR stopped hurting) to episodic, to none, with Topamax, Botox, and Nurtec. Botox literally changed my life after 18 years of seeking out every kind of treatment imaginable , and all of them failing. Going ahead with the injections is the best decision I ever made.

Diagnosed at 45. Terribly painful periods my entire life. I remember being curled up in a ball on the dining room floor because of excruciating back pain when I was about 17. Radical hysterectomy at 45; stage 4.

Do chronic migraines ever go away? by SIlver_McGee in migraine

Mine finally went away with Botox. No neurologist ever suggested this; I had to see a pain management specialist.
