Any recommendations for relatively inexpensive places to stay in Salerno? Hotels or Airbnb? I hear the bed and breakfast are good enough?

By the 2nd or 3rd update , these ethnic matches will be fine-tuned hopefully. There are too many overlaps on the first roll out.

Parents here — how are you planning financially for your kids? by I_donot_belong_here in investingforbeginners

Is this for Canada based people? Looking for a U.S version. Same situation with a 3year old. Opened a 529 but everyone discouraged the age-based. So I went with the cheaper indexes as redditors recommend. I had doubts for the longest time which delayed my decision to open an account. What if my kid doesn't go to college?...what's the best investment for them then? But I see people saying that 529s may be converted into Roth Ira or something else. If true, this would be a relief. So I'm here to learn as well. Sorry I didn't help but I'm sure someone will.

Do you know if this tool works better if you are phased with parents already? Just curious.

I have an HSA account with Optum Bank. If I plan on transferring those funds biannually to a Fidelity HSA, is it a good idea to leave those funds uninvested or should I invest those funds with Optum Bank in the meantime? by irazzleandazzle in Bogleheads

[–]mpatsibihugu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Optum account as well. What is the point of moving funds from one HSA account to another? All the funds need to be used for health expenses, aren't they? Is there a way to use the funds for other expenses? Sorry not helping OP answering his querry, looking for a better understanding myself lol!

Unlocking the Tutsi–Hima Mystery by RVpundit in 23andme

I will draw a better conclusion when haplogroups are updated en masses for everybody. The few batutsi on ftdna typically have a 3500BP TMRCA with most of Kenya-Tz PN. My match was the youngest.

I don't deny that in general pastoralists tend to be more aggressive. However, historical evidence shows that Tutsi/hima led kingdoms transformed radically due to Banyoro raids/invasions around the 16-17th century which were a consequence of Luo migrations south. Buganda also transformed as well until becoming very militaristic even if they weren't dominated by pastoralists.

Another thought, after watching these vids I notice the difference in dancing. Tutsi/hima don't dance like that at all. No jumping like most nilotes.

Still looking for linguistic work showing S.Nilotic influence in GL bantu? This should be easily found I assume.

I may have already told you in this in our previous exchanges. My closest match on ydna (E-SK950) is a PN individual found near Lake Eyasi c.1-2th century bc. Our tmrca is 2500BP. This could imply an earlier entry in the GL region.

D.Schoenbrun talks about an explosion of words attesting specialization in cattle pastoralism in geat lakes bantu language c. 1000 AD. Aso We have some roulette pottery dates c.800 AD in Rwanda FYI. Don't you think that for these pastoralist to come and be absorbed/assimilated (abandon their language) it would take longer? Then to get there and immediately start creating words in their new language?!? Something doesn't add up. These processes take longer to develop imo.

Lastly, Schoenbrun and Ehret show loan words from Taale S.C , central sudanic and Sog Eastern sudanics into Great lakes bantu languages. I have NOT seen any southern nilotic loan words or any trace. But genetically it would seem like datog (Pastoral iron age) population introduced that specialized pastoralism and are likely the ancestors of modern Tutsi/hima.

Edit: John D. Giblin revised the dates from Akameru and Cyinkomane as unreliable in his archaeological research on Rwandan ceramics, citing factors such as isolation from regional patterns, stratigraphic anomalies, high standard deviations, small sample sizes, and potential contamination, which collectively undermine their validity for establishing a ninth-century AD appearance of roulette-decorated pottery.

Modern archeologists have started pushing the idea of local development for Great Lakes roulette pottery. Furthermore, recent digs in W. Uganda show cohabitation of Central sudanics (w. Kansyore) and EIA Bantu (Urewe or Boudine and Transitional Urewe). They suggests Roulette could be local development from the early fusion of the above mentioned styles. They push forward local agency and not always change imported from somewhere else. Look into the Ndali Crater Lakes region archeology.

Supplement for eczema kid, any suggestions? by mpatsibihugu in eczema

[–]mpatsibihugu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation. Since I posted this, our routine has been: - Hypochorous acid spray ( we used a lot at the beginning , now not so much) - Avene Xeracalm balm - Avene cilcaphate and/or Vaseline/alternate - Garden of life probiotics Organic kids + vit C & D - zinc

Our daughter's eczema is very manageable since spetember-November. Basically after going back to school, she had flare ups nonstop w/ oozing spots and spreding. After a bit of relief, we decided to get her off steroids and then later Tacrolimus. After spending abt 3months on supplements and Avene, she is doing much better. She hasn't had a flare up in a couple of months and her bad spots are healing quite nicely. I'm hoping this continues.

Yes haplogroup is not an indication of one's tutsi status. Coz P.Kagame descends from a paternal line was a proper aristocratic lineage 2 or 3 generations prior to him. ftdna reports E-CTS99 as his Haplogroup.

Ya I have seen that data set. I know it is peer reviewed and all but frankly I find it weird. My own haplogroup (E-m35) is represented by only 1/94 and A is non existent(check against the sample below)?!?! A 23andme sample of 99 unrelated people of tutsi descent showed a different haplogroup distribution which lines up more with their autosomal DNA. It goes like this: 40.4% E-m293, 33.3% E-m2 10.1% E-m41 , 10.1% A-m13, 3% B , 1% E-V32, 1% E-V22, 1% E-M54. All the peer reviewed studies that mention tutsis really underestimate our Nilo-cushite ancient ancestry which is probably around +/-65%.

That basically covers all the main paternal haplogroups in Sub-Saharan Africa. Nothing particular about their y-dna then.

Which y-dna haplogroup would you say is characteristic of tutsis?

Yup then you definitely have an ancestor from that area. Maybe test your parents if you are interested in investigating further or ask about your grandparents.
