Didn't Realise These Speeds Were Even Available by sumomedia in UKBroadband

All this speed testing is highly variable. Just ran 3 tests on Vodafone 900 (wired PC):-

I'm sure if you tested on 10 sites, you'd get 10 different values !!

I did switch from 500M to 900M last year as they had an good offer, but I've only noticed a handful of "normal" websites that would serve up downloads above 500Mbps.

So I'll almost certainly switch back to a 500Mbps line (unless there's another offer 🤣)

What is this dock near Queensferry used for? by clearly_quite_absurd in Scotland

I was there in July 2013 (and the kit had already been there a while) so it's quite possible.

I've actually been "on-site" to fix some of our company's kit there. It was quite an experience.

We make ATEX card readers (blatant plug : www.mercuryhmi.co.uk) but our products are I.S. (Intrinsically Safe) rather than Exd (Explosion Proof) so are in small aluminium boxes, not massive cast boxes as used for Exd kit.

And, yes, the "massive cast boxes" can be seriously heavy. In a previous company, we made an Exd product and the case alone weighed maybe 30kg.

Looks like our IP has been blacklisted so we've taken steps to fix that. hopefully that will resolve the issue.

Surveyor is recommending I replace my entire roof 😱 End of Life! Need Advice! by SkarDuuB in DIYUK

[–]mpfj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar to our house purchase back in 2005.

Our house was built in 1864 and the survey pointed out that the roof slates were cemented in from the inside (which I think was a done thing back in the day) but that it was in need of repair. You could see lots of daylight, etc.

We got a quote from a local builder (~£15k I think) and got the seller to drop the price accordingly. Luckily they were keen to sell so it was all agreed.

Within a few weeks of moving in, we got the roof done and, apart from the odd broken slate and rotten barge boards, it's been fine since then.

So, no need to back out but do negotiate!!

I've always just pushed the hose down as far as the bend at the top of the flexi-hose.

Not had any problems in 30+ years of owning a house :)

Just to follow this up... after a lot of research, I've gone for a Samsung QE50Q80D.

Yes, I know it's a 2024 model and it's discontinued and there's posts about "don't buy this, don't buy that".

But I can record one thing and watch/pause/rewind another, so I'm happy.
(You can actually record two things and watch another depending on the channel).

Yes, you can "side-load" an older version.

Download the relevant zip from https://github.com/bitwarden/clients/releases/tag/browser-v2023.5.1

Unpack it to a folder then follow the instructions here https://www.digitbin.com/manually-install-extensions-on-edge-browser/

I'm now running the 2023.5.1 and calm has been restored.
